About this mod

A full retexture for the Gauss rifle, inspired by the concept art. Includes 8 different paints for the Barrel Shield.
Because it relies on magnetic fields, I based the look on Copper/Nickel/Zinc alloys (like coins) rather than iron based metals.

Nice and worn

A full retexture for the Gauss rifle - Only asset left unchanged is the nixie tube filaments.
It was inspired by the concept art which isn't rusty, whilst the vanilla textures are. Because it relies on magnetic fields, I based the look on Copper/Nickel/Zinc alloys (like coins) rather than iron based metals.
There are 8 different choices of paints for the barrel shield, interchangeable at the weapon workbench.
As usual, I made custom cubemaps for more interesting metallic reflections.

There are a total of 8 paints for the Barrel Shield, all of which except the old world paint (American flag) will spawn randomly:
See the Images tab for close-up in-game shots of each paint.

For the geeky ones among you: this fixes a few normal maps (flipped Y axis) and the barrel shroud was entirely rebaked with a new hi-poly model.

Compatibility: Not compatible with anything that edits the Gauss rifle or its materials. Compatible with pretty much everything else. If you have something that rebalances the Gauss Rifle, a patch may be necessary for the paints to work properly. I only touch the base weapon record to add the weapon paint attach point and keyword.

Thanks the the BoneZone discord for their encouragement and feedback. Thanks to Wanamango, BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah, Spiffyskytrooper and Littlelight for the paint suggestions.
Technical details: BC7 compression for Diffuse maps, BC5 for specular and normal maps - BA2 packed for better performance.
