Good mod! I have confirmed through testing that it works.
I have the following question, though: I tried editing the dds in gimp but when I made the edit, my character's face appeared black no matter what race I chose.
I just installed the mod as well I haven't seen any difference you mind helping with this for example the "eyes" type has multiple sub types within it like "alert", "shrewd", "tired" etc. So I'm not sure what they the Modder mean by choosing option 2. can you clarify this maybe?
Probably you've solved it, but it means for example if you choose Shrewd eyes effect, select the second option of that ( 2). Same for any face part that has a choice of types, i.e. Mouth - long pout, click on the second one down in the list in that particular section. you will eventually see it all come together.
I am so happy with this mod I could cry. It works like a charm and it's the only female face texture mod that doesn't give me the "rusty" face bug.
I'm using this male face texture mod alongside it: Younger Male Face Texture https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/478. No issues with "rusty" faces there, either.
So I recently started playing F4 again, and I remember that the last time I played it I used this exact same mod - and it worked. Now today, after enabling modding, suddenly no face retexture I use changes my PC's face. I know it should work, because I have CBBE installed and it works fine, but I'm at a loss as for what to do about this. Can someone smarter/better at modding tell me how to fix this? It would be greatly appreciated. =)
Edit: Question, does this mod, when installed, have a plugin? I didn't think so, but if it does that would explain why it hasn't shown up in my game, because there isn't one.
It doesn't have a plugin. You have to choose the second option in Type for each face part. Eye type 2, nose type 2, neck type 2, cheeks type 2, forehead 2, ears as well I think. Someone said if you have HD dlc this won't work. Not sure what else could be wrong though. Hope you find a solution.
Greetings, did you ever encounter a weird problem with the face texture when loading it into the game, where all female faces would come out really dark skinned and bright white skin at the back of the neck. Im trying to make a face texture aswell but cant figure out whats causing this, im following the same file saving method with visual studio, saving the file as .dds (dxgi_format_bc5_unorm)
I have the same issue, and quitting and reloading doesn't fix it. Even going into a new game makes it so no matter what skin shade I use it's always the darkest even if I choose pale skin.
Hi Im quite new to F4 and modding in general, and im trying to make my Characters face look better.
So my question is:
What does this mod do?
Does it add new features i can add to the face manually and how do i do that? or does it automatically just make the face look better?
Ive installed Oni Face retexture mod, im not sure what it does or how to use it but i think it makes the face look better lol Will it interfere with this mod in any way?
It does not add features you use manually. It just changes the skin textures for the young options(option 2 from the top when you choose skin texture of the nose, cheeks, etc) in character creation or using the console command showlooksmenu 14 1or slm 14 1 ;and can be used anytime after character creation. Make sure all the face parts are using the young option or it might look weird. Oni Face does almost the same thing, just a different look. CBBE says if using this mod you should also use the normal map from oni to make this one a little better. To do that just install oni first then overwrite with this mod. I also recommend not using oni's body textures(the face textures should work fine though) since some people say it adds seams using newer versions of Bodyslide.

As previously explained by Kittehkit below.

(I should note that I am using the HD DLC)

But I see nowhere a "Type" called "Young".....
