Fallout 4

About this mod

A basic LooksMenu .json file that makes Deacon look less like an angry old man and generally fixes Bethesda's bad modelling job. Includes a post-game alternative.

I'm just going to come right out and say it: Bethesda made Deacon look like an angry, wrinkled old man with a really cruddy face model. You'd think after over fifty facial reconstructions, he'd look a little better. Smoothed out. So, that's what I did. I softened his face quite a lot, added Ginger Freckles (tm) and seriously faded chem scars. I fixed his broken nose, touched up his lips, and gave his skin some color variance with faint bruises and a sun tan. His jawline needed special attention...

I have recently included an optional post-game alternate file that will give Deacon hair and some more identifying markers. Deacon finally gets his retirement! See media page for more photos. It is safe to have both of these installed at the same time as they register as different presets.

This mod REQUIRES:
  • F4SE
  • LooksMenu
  • LooksMenu Customization Compendium
  • Young Male Face Textures
  • Refined Male Head Mesh

How to install each preset:
  • Unzip the downloaded file. There should be a file named "Locke’s Deacon.json" inside.
  • Copy and paste "Locke's Deacon.json" into your presets folder. If you have other presets for LooksMenu, they will appear here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\Plugins\F4EE\Presets

(If you have WIndows 10, you should be able to copy and paste this address into the search bar to locate it.)

  • Check your presets menu in the character creation screen. It will be listed simply as "Locke's Deacon."
  • Once you have the preset in your list, you may apply it to either your companion or your own character using the slm command.

You must wait for Deacon to become an available companion before applying this preset, as his “settler” disguises register as entirely different characters and will glitch.
