Progress through the main quest while skipping Nick's quest. Go to Kellogg's room and open the hidden door. Go directly to Fort Hagen and face Kellogg.

List of changes:

  • The button opening the secret door in Kellogg's room is available from the start
  • Nick is no longer necessary to progress the main quest, you can skip his quest altogether
  • Kellogg available in Fort Hagen from the start
  • Virgil available in the Glowing Sea after Kellogg dies

Here's how to progress the main quest without Nick:

  • Activate the secret button in Kellogg's room in Diamond City as usual
  • Examine the clue on the table (cigar)
  • If Dogmeat has been recruited: Upon picking up the cigar you will be prompted to show it to Dogmeat and the quest will continue
  • If Dogmeat hasn't been recruited: You need to go find him. Once he's joined you, you will be prompted to show him the cigar and the quest will continue

Additionally you can go to Fort Hagen directly without ever meeting Dogmeat and Kellogg will be there. The elevator will be functional.

Virgil will be in his lab after Kellogg has been dealt with and you can interact with him. Doing this will skip Dangerous Minds.

If you've skipped Dangerous Minds and missed your opportunity to meet Dr. Amari, and wish to advance Curie's companion quest, you must complete Memory Interrupted for the Railroad which gives you another opportunity to meet Amari.

You can do the main quest normally too, the purpose of this is to provide the player with different routes.

FAQ

Q. The elevator is not functional. Why?
A. Make sure you are running the mod on a new game. If you install it mid-game some changes will not apply.

Q. Dogmeat is stuck and won't move during Reunions. Why?
A. It is known that any mod that prevents Dogmeat from opening doors will bug the vanilla quest. Uninstall those.

Q. What is the difference between this mod and SKK Fast Start Reunions?
A. SKK Fast Start Reunions autocompletes several quests for you giving you non-linear choice. This mod does not.

Disclaimer: No, I don't dislike Nick as a character. The title is just meant to be funny.
