    So after spending more time in the game with it, I can honestly say I absolutely love this weapon!

    I can understand some objections others have on it being too powerful, but on the other hand, the base game energy weapons are severely lacking, you only have between laser and plasma, which don't do nearly enough damage to be a viable end game weapon, especially for pistol vats build, unless you spam criticals, which isn't fun.

    The ability to tweak the damage inflicted by the weapon would be nice though, so we can balance it to the way we like.

      I will address the balancing comments in a way that hopefully encompasses all comments:

      The barrels are all balanced against a vanilla counterpart - hunting rifle for the starting bolt-action variant, plasma for the semi-auto, auto and flamer barrels, and gauss for the sniper variant.

      You may see higher numbers in terms of damage than the laser rifle, but it's a lot slower and still a little slower and less accurate than the plasma rifle. In fact apart from the sniper/antimatter barrel (which is very slow because bolt action) they all deal less damage than the plasma rifle. The actual damage is actually lower than the number when looking at the stats because of the charging effect (shots after the first one deal less damage if you fire at full speed).

      Some think it should simply be less powerful than the other energy weapons but in gameplay that just makes them useless and not very fun to use. I've tested this a long long time and have found this to be a good balance.

      That being said, if you want to nerf the weapon, here is how to (in F4edit / Xedit): 
      Find the weapon forms, and edit base damage (under DAMA - Damage types) - you will have to do this for the 5 weapon forms.

      Protip: save the changes in a new esp as a patch so you can still update the mod without losing your changes. 
      You have my permission to upload balancing/damage change patches as long as they still require my mod to function and don't repackage assets.

    Question. is the kinetic disruptor supposed to deal laughably little damage? its listed DPS is ridiculously high but with the ragdolling and the low damage it seems near impossible to kill anything with it. id understand if its simply a meme weapon but if if not id like to know whats up

      Vats is the way to go if you want to deal damage with it (or aim for the feet/ground), but I had to balance it somehow. The high-ish rate of fire, large area of damage and perma-stun capabilities make it quite powerful already.
      The lower damage is the splash damage for the explosion, the higher listed damage is from a direct hit (very hard without vats).
      It is kind of a special scenario type of gun, if you have a large crowd of enemies to deal with for example. Play around with it to find a good strategy, I guess. Perhaps you can force-push larger melee enemies, and lay mines before they get up and come back.
      You can also push enemies off cliffs.

    how do I edit the levelist so supermutants dont have it? I like to think that someone as stupid as them wouldn't be able to make one let alone operate it.

      Supermutants use laser rifles in the vanilla game - the idea is not that they created the zap guns but most likely they stole it from wastelander corpses. That being said the reduced levelled list patch will make supermutants with zap guns a lot rarer.



      Editing the injection quests is quite easy in fo4edit. They are all named after the variant they inject (LLInject_Zapgun is random, with attachments depending on level). To remove from one levelled list, right click on property above the LL you want to remove and click remove. Most of the LL have self explanatory names, sometimes it's a bit tricky to know exactly who uses them but this should be a good start. There is no way to give a precise percentage to drop, the system doesn't work like that.

      Keep in mind the changes will only work in a new playthrough or on a save where the zapgun wasn't installed yet. If the script has already run there is no way to change the integration.

    This is amazing. I always love makeshift weapons, and yours never disappoint. The animations, the models and sounds are all on point, and as all your guns, these are extremely lore friendly.

    I almost don't use energy weapons, but this one is so cool and well-made, that it always makes its way into my inventory.

    This is by far my favorite weapon mod but I try to install the Makeshift shotgun or the Charger pistol all 3 overwrite eachothers, am I missing something obvious? I went through a lot of comments and found nobody with the same issue. ''Data - Main.ba2'' and ''Data.esp'' are the ones overwriting eachothers when installing with nexus. Any help would be appreciated as I really want to try the other 2. Easily some of the best gun mods out there, I couldn't imagine playing fo4 without the zap gun ever again.
