A Few Short Stories About The Commonwealth

‘A Few Short Stories About The Commonwealth’ is a quest and location mod, which is inspired (obviously) by the base Fallout 4 experience, as well as the style of old Bethesda games - namely the questing system of Morrowind and the level design system of Fallout 3.

What this means is that unlike other Fallout 4 quests, there isn’t going to be a marker to tell you exactly where to go. You’ll need to dig a little beyond the surface to find where to go next.

The current release has new locations in Concord and Boston (Fen’s Bank Area - near Back Street Apparel), all of which are inspired by Bethesda’s genius worldbuilding of Fallout 3 which aimed to tell a story through a teddy bear, a terminal or a note.

As a result, there is a ton of writing in this mod - we really tried to flesh out each location as much as we could but there is more to be done. In the first update planned for release in April 2021, we will further flesh out the current locations, add a ton of new ones, and introduce more quests - namely the ‘Fault-Tec’ questline which I have left a few small snippets of inside the mod.

This is my first officially released mod - I expect there to be some bugs and hitches, please let me know of any and I will endeavor to have them fixed as soon as I can.

Locations
--
Old Concord Bar
Just off main street, this local Concord watering hole was undergoing a renovation before the bombs dropped.

Concord Book Store
Within the heart of Concord’s main street is this small book store - used before the war as a means for the citizens of Concord to organize book clubs, rent out books and find a relaxing spot to escape the troubles of modern life.

Grand Concord Hotel
Neighboring the Concord Book Store, the Grand Concord Hotel is a spot for foreigners seeking a discount staying just out of the city and for locals seeking for respite in the upstairs bar.

Travis House
Home to a reclusive character Edmund and his wife, Fiona. Not exactly upstanding or active members of the small town community that Concord is known for, explorers are likely to stumble across something interesting in the Travis household.

Bombed House
Along the road leading from Red Rocket to Concord, this bombed out house is conveniently accessible by ladder - serving as a temporary home to a father and son on a journey to save their most cherished family member.

--
Red Door Apartments
Around the corner from Diamond City, this small apartment building is home to something more sinister than its quaint exterior would suggest.

Sasso Solicitors
Within the heart of Boston lies the ruins of a once well renowned law firm, now a site of bloodshed between raiders and super mutants.

Corner Store
Once a place for the nearby residents of Fenway Park to grab essentials, the Corner Store has now become the burial ground for a few unlucky wastelanders.

Boston Security Consulting
The Boston Security Consulting Office previously served members of Boston’s affluent class, seeking private military protection or firearms in a semi-legal manner.

To avoid spoilers, I have left off some locations. Explore the mod to find these.

The upcoming April 2021 Update will double the current amount of interiors.

Quests
--
‘Love In The Time Of Commonwealth’
Not going to spoil anything, it’s start game enabled so follow the quest log/notes if you get lost.

--
‘Clean-Up On Aisle 3’
As the name suggests, the quest starts in the Corner Store.

The upcoming April 2021 Update will massively increase the number and sophistication of the quests.

Conflicts

Thanks to the helpful people of nexus, it seems these mods conflict with mine, I am taking a look at all of these to see if a compatibility patch would be feasible.

Credits

Most of the writing in this mod was done by my good friend Zac Ho - he is currently raising funds for an animated short film that covers issues such as mental health, relationship dependency and loneliness.

It is with great sadness that I report my co-creator/writer and close friend Zac has passed away at 20 years old.

This mod wouldn't have come to life without his friendship and tireless effort in helping to write and conceptualize the original release and planned update. It goes without saying, this update is postponed to a later date to be determined.
