Clothing swap works by swapping a default npc’s outfit for one of your choosing. This mod is quite lightweight for what it does and you shouldn't notice any hit in performance except for perhaps when you open the MCM for the first time. The 'notes' section of the MCM gives instructions if you ever need a reminder. Please feel free to upload screenshots and endorse if you like it. Scroll to the bottom for an example.
To Use:
- Activate the mod in the MCM
- Place the outfit you would like to add to an NPC on your character, open the MCM and click "Set To Player's Outfit" on the outfit you wish to have replaced.
- Up to 6 items are included, and up to 6 mods on each item are included.
- Outfits are default set to "Female Only" but can be toggled to "Both Genders". No male-only option is available.
- 8 Custom slots are available if the desired outfit you wish to change is not in the list. To use this, place the armor you wish to target as the new 'default outfit' to be replaced on your player (only the body slot will be checked) and click "Set Default Outfit to Player's Outfit" in the custom section of the MCM. Now place the new desired outfit on your player and click "Set Target To Player's Outfit" for the same slot.
- All newly met NPCs will be effected when the mod is active. A 'Save and Reload' will trigger a refresh on all NPCs. Sleeping should trigger a refresh, but is not consistent. Deactivating the mod will place everyone back to normal.
- You can check in the MCM what a outfit is currently set to. You can also check to see if something your character is wearing is already assigned, but it will only check the first item it finds on your player, so strip down ;)
- If using unique player or human race, toggle ignore race for better success
Change Log:
v1.2
- fixed a bug that may prevent the effect from applying under certain conditions / with some conflicting mods
- added MCM option to ignore race. If you are using unique player or another race, toggle this option.
v 1.1
- now supports both human race as well as w/e the player race may be
Things To Keep In Mind:
- Clothing Replacer Mods: if you are using a clothing replacer, the replacer may have changed the name of an outfit you wish to see changed. For example, if you are using Lazman's Female Outfit replacer, the DC guard outfit will not change as expected, but targeting the "Athletic Outfit" that the guards are wearing will work. Use a custom slot to modify the Athletic Outfit in this case.
- Settlers and followers: if you want to change the outfit of a settler or a follower beyond what you have already setup in the MCM by transferring it to them, craft a "Clothing Swap Override" at the chemistry station and place it in their inventory. Save your game and reload. Now you can change their outfit on the go. Note: If they 'eat' the outfit and it disappears, just add another one. I'm not sure why this happens, but it is out of a my control.
- If a conversion isn't working, check to make sure you have the proper gender toggled for that slot.
- Some armors have mods built in that you may not see at the armor bench. These will contribute to the 6 mod per item limit.
- The clothing selection is not preserved between saves (if you know how this could be done, please contact me). If you have an elaborate set of outfits you would like to see between games, I recommend you start a new game, setup all your outfits, and create a save file to play from in the future.
- NPCs will still have their default outfit in their inventory, probably a few copies. Removing this caused a boat load of problems that probably has to do with something in the source code that I cannot see. It's a necessary evil. Removing that outfit without a 'Clothing Swap Override' properly placed on an NPC may cause them to swap to a new default outfit.
An Example:
- Say you want everyone wearing raider leathers to now be wearing Pampas Set #3 with the raider level texture. Place the PS-3 with raider texture on your character, and in the MCM under 'Raiders -> Raider Leathers' click 'Set To Player's Outfit'. Save and reload. Now everyone that was wearing raider leathers as their default outfit will be wearing PS3 instead.
