When you move the reticle ?1000 units forward (and make it bigger) you don't need to change the reticle position via material swap when changing the view position, because the reticle keeps on target. When you adjust the normals (2 triangles with 4 vertex seems to be enough) to a symmetrical cone with their intersection slightly in front of the view position of the player behind the sight and also calibrate the Falloff-Angles you can imitate the behaviour of real reflex sights (even with big reticles) like show in the first picture in its corresponding wikipedia article. I've done this with many downloaded weapon mods an it's working like a charm. With a FOVMult ? 1 it may need further adjustments. Have a nice day.
