Carrying around a sack of currency was never a practical endeavor.Since the dawn of economy there have been various instances of Bullion currency - a way of reducing the scale of money while maintaining its trade value for ease of storage and accounting.
In the fallout universe this is now the tokens - why carry 1000 caps on you in a bag like Santa Claus when you can just have them turned in exchange for one golden Nuka-Cade Token?Need to pay your 500 caps monthly rent to the landlord? You don't need to carry a sack down the stairs,you can just hand him one silver Subway Token.Want to pay your date's dinner but don't want to look like a fool counting a hundred caps on the table infront of everybody?Its just one bronze Book Return Token.
Anyway that`s just the lore of it,there's no practical way to make that work ingame.I could script a vending machine to exchange various combinations but there would still be no viable reason for it other than roleplay.
What the mod simply does is edit the value of these items so there's a worthwhile reason to hunt them down and sell them ingame:
Nuka-Cade Token - 1000 Caps base value.
Subway Token - 500 Caps base value.
Book Return Token - 100 Caps base value.
