THIS MOD REQUIRES THE NUKA-WORLD DLC FOR FALLOUT 4.

...RATIONALE

I wanted to be able to throw grenades at an enemy and have them explode instantly on impact, similar to how a molotov cocktail operates. However, since grenades usually also damage the player, I wanted to make sure I wouldn't kill myself when trying to blow up an enemy who's already gotten just a little too close.

Additionally, I wanted less powerful grenades to be stealthier (a bit less likely to draw attention) and more powerful grenades to have more of an impact to stagger or knockdown enemies while also being non-stealthy.

...FUNCTION AND CHANGES

This mod allows the player to convert any of the grenades listed below into a corresponding SIG (Smart Impact Grenade) grenade at a chemistry station or cooking station.

Smart Impact Grenades are 'smart' like Smart Fragmentation Grenades, meaning they don't hurt the player, and explode on impact rather than after a short timer (like the short timers that vanilla grenades have before exploding).

I have added crafting recipes for the following grenades that were previously uncraftable: Nuka Grenade, Smart Fragmentation Grenade, Fragmentation Grenade MIRV.

In order to balance these new recipes with the existing ones, I've reworked the recipes for all grenades that this mod adds SIG versions for.

The components are largely the same and/or similar to the vanilla components, while the quantities for the components have been reduced since grenades should now be slightly more useful and you may go through them quicker than before.

Perk and other requirements that applied to the vanilla recipes for making the base game grenades still apply (and similar requirements apply to the newly created recipes for base game grenades). However, the conversion recipes to turn a base game grenade into a SIG variant do not have any requirements. The player is supposed to be able to have this functionality freely available for any grenade that comes into their possession. Whether you get a grenade through scavenging/buying or crafting, that's where the player will have to decide for themselves how to proceed.

Since the conversion makes all these grenades 'smart' by default, I've decided to make the SIG version of the Smart Fragmentation Grenade 'special' by turning it into a frag-shaped proximity mine that you can throw as far as a grenade, instead.

For some mystifying reason, the damage inflicted by a Nuka Quantum Grenade explosion (from the Nuka-World DLC) was less than the damage + radiation inflicted by a Nuka Grenade explosion (from vanilla FO4). Nuka Quantum should be better than Nuka, so I upped the base explosion damage on the Nuka Quantum Grenade to 400 (balancing out the fact that it does not do any radiation damage).

...GENERAL INFO

The mod was built with the Creation Kit, has been cleaned with FO4Edit (generally known as xEdit), and comes in two flavors: vanilla weight and weightless.

Important note 1: Using any other mod that removes vanilla or Nuka-World grenades from the game code may break this mod and cause your game to crash or fail to load, since this mod depends on the existence of the base game grenade data in a number of ways. It should be able to handle the grenade data being changed, but it won't be able to handle not finding the grenade data at all.

Important note 2: If you use any other mod that also makes changes to the grenades in the game, you'll have to experiment with loading this mod AFTER or BEFORE that mod in your plugin load order for maximum compatibility. Loading this mod AFTER should usually be the best option.

Here are the crafting recipes for the base game grenades. In order to allow the noble Molotov Cocktail to compete with SIG grenades, it has also gotten an adjusted crafting recipe. (Converting a base game grenade into its SIG upgraded counterpart is a simple 1-to-1 conversion and you only need to have the base game grenade in your inventory.)
THE CRAFTING RECIPES WILL NOT BE VISIBLE IF YOU DON'T MEET THE REQUIREMENTS, if you are wondering why some of the recipes don't show for you. Recipes do show if you don't have the components but you do meet the requirements.
