i recently installed this just in time to start far harbor. however, the game is skipping over nick's lines as if they aren't happening, the camera isn't even centering on him during dialogue. i checked to make sure the files were all installed where they should be. anyone know a fix?
OMG, I haven't yet had a chance to play out FH but I noticed in a video that his voice sounded like crap and was wondering why? Now when I finally get to play this one out I don't have to deal with that! Thank you!!!
thankyou so, so, SO much... i've been feeling nostalgic lately and was considering replaying the game just for nick, but was hesitant because his voice in far harbor bothered me SO MUCH... now i can go back and actually enjoy it, no cringe :D
This is the exact sort of thing that drives me batty, so it's definitely an instant download.
Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC suffers from a similar issue. But it's less to do with pitch, and more to do with a good majority of the voice actors sounding thoroughly depressed--especially the Male Brute voice type. I do a lot of dialogue splicing, so I can make use of the different "moods" on offer, but sometimes I despair because something sounds totally the opposite of what it would in the base game.
Even the Hearthfire expansion didn't escape unscathed--the Female Coward voice actress sounds like a manic version of Minnie Mouse. It's rather terrifying to hear as she switches from her dour vanilla mood to unbearable perkiness and then back again. I don't know how Bethesda could listen to that and let it pass with approval.
Nick's voice in FH has been driving me a little nutty for forever, thank you for doing this! I think it's the best we can do to getting that dusty synth's voice back to his default factory specs lol.
I kinda hate when producers call their old voice actors to voice on an DLC, but they...like, use another microphone or the voice actor kinda "forgot" how to do their character. It just says frick it to continuaty! Sorry for bad english ;w; Anyways, thank you :3
In this case I have to wonder if Bethesda applied some changes to Nick's voice in the original game but forget to tweak them in the DLC.
Because the V.A. is definitely not lacking in talent or versatility -- he also provides the voice of pretty much *every* Mr. Handy and Mr. Gutsy in both Fallout 3 and 4, including Codsworth, Charlie, and Professor Goodfeels. (Not to mention DiMA.)
But whatever the reason was -- the moment I heard Nick in his office for this quest, I knew that if nobody else had already tweaked his voice, I'd have to do it myself, because the voice is *just* different enough to completely ruin the immersion for me.
Many thanks to the author for doing it so I don't have to.
This reminds me of an idea I had, installing the memory/echo of Kellogg into a Gen 2 or Gen 3 with a small quest mod, and making him, his expertise and his experience work for you.
For the Gen 2 which would be more interesting, let's face it, his voice lines would need to be edited to sound how he did when he spoke through Nick.
