I'd like to point out that all the normal maps in this mod are named incorrectly and thus do not appear in the game. To fix it, you need to go into the "data\textures\actors\feralghoul" folder and rename any files that end with "_d_n.dds" to "_n.dds". For example, "feralghouleye_d_n.dds" should be renamed to "feralghouleye_n.dds" and so on. Without this fix you will only see the vanilla normal maps on Jester's otherwise excellent mod.
really? O.o sorry about this guys. does this mean that the pictures thus far are not showing the full detail? could you maybe upload some pics with the fixes? now I want to see the difference lol
I'm not sure why the felt that all the previously established creatures from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas needed to be completely redesigned from the ground up (unless Obsidian Entertainment owned the assets or something, but still, why radically change how everything looks?).
They changed how it looks because that's what some people do. They change things because they rethink them and try to do it better than before. Artists do this a lot because a lot of them tend to think too much.
Personally, the only thing I don't care for at the moment is super mutants. Their arms and torso are too long. They look like gorillas.
The ghouls, on the other hand, look quite creepy... more like super-irradiated people, rather than walking corpses. I like them. This mod is nice, but I won't be using it. I like the more pale "melted" vanilla ghouls a little more.
@UlithiumDragon, Well, that's exactly why Bethesda's games will have a huge following due to the GECK/Creation Kit being released. If you don't like that they are so small, you can make it right. I mean Bethesda really should have done some of this stuff by itself, but well, its good to see it be created no matter where it comes from.
they went for a more realistic look "decayed and rotted skin by radiation" instead of the totally science-fiction zombie look of the old ones, after the initial shock I think they had a very good idea BUT....before that awesome (as usual!) retex by Jesters they looked too lowQ blurry textured
Well I mean, power armor is much bigger, so the comparison isn't perfect. Still, they are smaller, but they're actually the correct size to the original concept art by Adam Adamowicz. (R.I.P.) In fact, the mesh in Fallout 3 itself was only around the size that it is in 4, say, 12 feet or so, but it was stupidly scaled in game, which is why the fire hydrant was 6 feet long and there was a human skull as big as a human torso.
Supermutants definitely look worse than before, I don't think it's because of the arm length/torso length, because the mutants in Fallout 1 and 2 had long torsos and even longer arms, I think it's because they're way too skinny and have the torso/chest/shoulder shape of something between an elderly man and a chimp.(Old man faces too) Given that they're unrelated to previous mutant strains it's not a big deal.
As for the ferals? I think the goal with them was to make them look more the result of radiation, thus why they look so much more deformed. They look like the Elephant man, or something you'd get as a search result for "Chernobyl Mutant".
I'm glad they do that. Why would I want to see the same creatures in every game? Every new Fallout and Elder Scrolls is a chance not to just make a sequel, but to enhance all of the aspects of the game. I hope the next Fallout game redoes everything again.

Thanks for this.

That's like, 5x smaller than they were in FO3/NV (at least).

Much appreciated!
I have a few images of the ghouls with the mod, they look fantastic, thank you!
