About this mod

Converts the ruined Red Rocket in the Glowing Sea into a fully-functional settlement and player home.

Changelogs
If you enjoyed Tarsis31's or Yagisan's Red Rocket settlement collection (as I did), but started a new playthrough without it because you kept adding mods that conflicted with it (as I did), but really missed this particular location as a settlement (as I did), this mod's for you.

Features
  • Fully-functional settlement (radiant quests, send settlers here, set up provisioners)
  • High build area consisting of 4 cells (2x2) and custom border
  • The irradiated pool in front now works like the one at Starlight Drive-in: scrap the barrels and the extra radiation goes away!
  • Includes all workbenches (the cooking station is outside, all others are inside the player home)
  • The internal workbenches are connected to the external settlement, giving full access to all materials in the network
  • Two versions: previs/precombines broken for full scrapping, or the vanilla previs/precombines intact for performance (this distinction applies to the exterior cells only)
  • Previs/precombines for the player home were rebuilt in both versions, allowing for full scrapping without seeing into the "void"
  • Scrap recipes added to provide materials from scrapped debris, inside and outside
  • ESL-flagged ESP

To take possession of the workbench, you must kill the new radscorpion boss north of the building. The vanilla radscorpion that patrols the pool is not required. In my testing, the fight with the boss didn't alert the guy at the pool, so I was able to build turrets to help take him out. Your mileage may vary.

Installation
Do not *ever* uninstall a settlement mod without also rewinding your game to a point before the mod was installed. Once registered in the workshop system, settlements cannot be uninstalled, your game will eventually, or even sooner, be rekt.
  • Create a hard save, outside the Glowing Sea.
  • Install the mod. Always place settlement mods below other mods that impact the same area.
  • Test it. Visit the settlement, kill the boss, activate the workbench. Is happiness at 50? Can you build? Scrap the barrels? Is the view flicker-free as you look around? Everything look good on the pip-boy? Do you like it?
  • If you answered no to any of those questions, uninstall the mod and re-load that hard save you made in the first step.

Compatibility
  • I created this mod with the Creation Kit that came with version 1.10.162 of the game, so you need to be playing at that version or later.
  • Tarsis31's or Yagisan's Red Rocket Settlements: No. If you have either of these, you've already got a fine settlement at this location. Also, you can't replace that mod with this, for the same reasons described above.
  • South of the Sea: Yes, but only if you select the scrapping version of this mod and place it below SOTS in the load order. In all other combinations, there was lots of flicker. Be forewarned that you will be able to scrap portions of that mod's buildings that are placed in the same cells. One of those buildings has a door providing access to an interior cell, so don't scrap nilly-willy unless you are OK with losing access to that cell.
  • Sim Settlements: Yes. Built a few plots, watched as they upgraded themselves over time.

Notes
  • The player home floor is angled, but items you craft in there will not be. If you want items to appear to rest correctly on the floor, open the console, select the item, and enter these commands: "setangle x 3.244" and "setangle y 3.7792" without quotes. Then to actually set the item on the floor, try "modpos z -8" (might need to adjust slightly). If the item becomes blurry, use "modpos z 0" to sharpen.
  • A very short distance northwest from the settlement proper is another Red Rocket building and overhang. Anyone develop any lore for this? Competing franchisee? Regional HQ building? The original was huge with 2 stores and overhangs? Developer copy and paste?

Thanks
Shout-outs to:
  • 1000101 and the nice people working on the Annex the Commonwealth mod. They created a PDF-based custom settlement tutorial that is top-notch. And if you join their Discord server and ask nicely, they'll help you with previously difficult things, like custom settlement borders.
  • Viits for taking time out of his day to answer my question on scrap recipes.
