About this mod

A great addition to any Contraptions Workshop set up. A machine that can scrap ammo, weapons, armor, aid items, loose mods, fireworks, and weather shells all while using the vanilla scalar scrapping formula for balance.

Important: When Updating to Version .91

When updating to version .91 from an earlier version the machine will need a script refresh to register the baseball bat as a scrappable object. To do so, simply store the machine in the workshop and replace it.

This machine is an alternative to the Nodas Equipment Recycler that is more comprehensive, complex and lore friendly. The Nodas Recycler uses keywords and the AWKCR Keyword resource and because of this, you end up getting wonky/odd component outputs that aren't exactly what you would get with scrapping things manually. I made this machine to accomplish that. You get the exact components you would get if you scrapped manually (or if you were able to scrap manually). This machine can also scrap things that aren't normally manually scrappable in the vanilla game such as loose mods, grenades, or power armor parts while using the same (or similar) scrap rate.

Like many of the vanilla machines this machine requires a perk to build which is the first level of the Scrapper perk. This machine will scrap items as efficiently as having the second level of the Scrapper perk however.

This mod is still in Beta, but only because I'm not 100% certain yet that it can scrap everything I want it to scrap, and I'm not entirely sure of the consequences of player tampering on the script (such as repeatedly adding and removing large amounts of items simultaneously).

What this machine can do so far:
-all objects are recycled according to the vanilla scrap scalar as if player scrapped manually with the level 2 scrapper perk
-recycle any loose mod (including robot parts from DLC)
-recycle any power armor piece
-recycle fireworks and weather shells
-recycle all weapons and armors (unless i missed something)
-recycle all vanilla ammo types, even cannonballs, artillery shells, and modified bowling balls (unless i missed something)
-recycle all vanilla aid items (unless i missed something)

What this machine can't do (but may be able to in the future):
-recycle junk misc items (and never will, that recycler is part of the "Manufacturing Extended" mod)
-recycle non mod misc items such as holo tapes or documents (and probably never will)
-recycle some unique/rare items? (not sure yet, ideally they all should be scrappable)
-recycle items not in the vanilla game

If there is something you think should be scrappable by this machine but is not, or if you find an issue, or that any of these things above are incorrect please leave a comment, bug report, or send me (JigsJosh) a PM.

In the future I also plan on creating a guide (or another machine) to scrap items added by other mods.

A Forewarning

Be forewarned that because script arrays can only handle 128 items per array, if you add more than 128 weapons/armors or more than 128 loose mods (there is one array for each group) to the machine at a time it won't be able to process them (having a ton of items in inventory will slow down machines anyways). Make sure that you make multiple machines or feed weapons/armor and loose mods into the machine slowly (a four second timer on hoppers is ideal although three seconds also works well) if you want to recycle more than that. This only applies to weapons, armor, and loose mods however, so you could theoretically have any amount of other item types all in the machine at once.

If you do happen to put tons of these items into the machine however there is an easy fix if it stops processing. Simply remove everything, wait 3 seconds (while not in menus), then re-add everything.

Suggested Mods

I recommend that you download Manufacturing Extended or a similar mod if you have not already to make the best use of this mod.

Also Try XWolfJackX's Scrappable Mods if you want to be able to scrap loose mods manually.

Known Incompatibilities

If you are using the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, certain items will not be scrappable by the machine because of changes UFO4P makes in form lists. Make sure that if you have the UFO4P that you also download the compatibility patch included with this mod.

If you are using XWolfJackX's Scrappable Mods, make sure his mod is lower in your load order if you want to be able to scrap mods manually. I've disabled manual scrapping of loose weapon/armor mods with this mod to maintain balance and vanilla function because it modifies the loose mod component lists (which makes them manually scrappable for some reason) for the sake of script calculation. Mods like it that make changes to loose mod component lists should also be placed lower in your load order.

Special thanks to XWolfJackX for letting me use work from his mod "Scrappable Mods". His work was needed for this machine's script and he saved me probably hours of work and allowed me to focus more on scripting. I have included him as a mod author because of it.
