Are you someone who enjoys traversing the Commonwealth without the clunkiness of power armor, but need something to protect against radiation and all the baddies in the Glowing Sea? Well, this suit has you covered. Literally! The Survival Suit is a modified hazmat suit that provides additional bonuses and abilities that will make your journey through the apocalyptic world much easier and safer.
LOCATION:
There is an old pre-war APC a little southwest of Sanctuary, and the suit can be found just inside it.
If you're not aware of its location, then check out the pictures provided for help.
QUEST-FREE BALLISTIC WEAVE:
Yes, similar to Wastelander's Coat, this suit has ballistic weave that requires no quest(s) to craft!
Besides Physical and Energy resistance, these upgrades increase Poison resistance to a max of 75 (immunity is 125).
The vanilla hazmat suit doesn't have this ballistic weave capability, which was the main reason that I made this mod.
SENSOR MODULES:
The Survival Suit can be equipped with two different sensor modules that provide targeting abilities. Recon Sensors allow the wearer to aim down sight (ADS) and ping enemies, which then show up on the compass. It requires rank 2 of Science! to craft. The other module is a Targeting HUD that highlights living targets in red. This module requires rank 3 of Science! to craft. Both of these mods can be added to some of the vanilla power armor helmets, so I figured:
"Why not? The hazmat suit has a visor on it right?"
NIGHT VISION:
If you play with mods that make the game a lot darker at night, then this modification is for you. Night Optics only require rank 2 of Science! to craft, and acts similar to how the Night Person perk does. The effects last between 6:00pm and 6:00am in-game time. It is also a constant effect that doesn't only activate when crouched and like the perk, it doesn't work inside.
REBREATHER:
Have you ever used the Rebreather in Fallout: New Vegas? No? Well, this bad boy allows the wearer to breathe underwater. It has a hefty requirement of Science! rank 4, but is an alternative to taking the Aquaboy perk. Perfect for dipping away from the troubles of terrestrial life.
STEALTH FIELD:
Version 4.0 adds the "Stealth Field" modification to the Misc attach point, which allows the player to be invisible while crouching. However, it does drain AP and the player has to be not moving for the stealth field to activate. Since I am not a fan of the annoying activation sound, there is a silent sound descriptor. This will save you from hearing the activation/deactivation sound every time you go between being invisible and visible, or vise versa.
RECOMMENDED MOD(S):
Hazmat Suit Redux by Spiffyskytrooper - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/31799
This mod makes the visor of the Hazmat Suit transparent, so that you can see your player's head and facial features.
It also re-textures the suit to be yellow.
MATERIAL SWAP FRAMEWORK:
Version 3.0 of Survival Suit adds Material Swap framework, which allows the player to change the color of the suit. For now, there is only three options depending on whether or not you're using the Nuka-World version. These three options include: Standard, Orange (Vanilla Texture), and White (Nuka-World Texture). The Standard option is there for those who have a re-texture of the Hazmat Suit already installed, which means you can switch the color of your Survival Suit from yellow to orange and vise-versa, if you have Hazmat Suit Redux by Spiffyskytrooper installed. If you don't have any re-textures installed for the Hazmat Suit, then the Standard Material Swap will be the vanilla texture. Unfortunately, the Non-DLC version only includes the vanilla texture and standard for now. If any 3D artists would like to create a re-texture to be added with Survival Suit, please contact me via Nexus messenger.

The creation of this mod made me want to pull my hair out at times, but I've finally got a better understanding of how object mods work. More specifically, how armor mods work. It always annoyed me that ballistic weave required railroad quests to complete and always glitched out due to a bug with the quests. This mod is an extension of what I learned when creating Wastelander's Coat, which can be found on here and Bethesda.net. As always, thank you all for the support and downloading my mods. If you have any suggestions or problems, please feel free to leave a comment on the Nexus page of this mod.
