Right, you know in NW as you wander you come across either the Disciples, Operators and The Pack fighting things in their random encounters? Course you do. The Disciples fight Super Mutants, Operators fight Gunners, and The Pack fight.........Scavvers?!?! Really? Scavvers....right. Not like animals, or creatures? You know, what they are known for and focus on. No, bloody Scavvers for christs sake. They're not even a challenge, the Pack win easily, it's a slaughter. Disciples and Operators at least have a better challenge and it's not certain they'll win, but the Pack never lose a member.
Well, no more. I mean Scavvers for Gods sake.....
Now they fight animals and creatures. I decided to make a few versions, and observe and document the results. Read on.
Radscorpions = The Pack gets slaughtered to a man. They don't even manage to kill one usually. However the scorpions have trouble going through doorways.
Mirelurks = They don't do as well as scorpions, they MAY be able to kill one pack member, but it depends on many things. Still, they do better than scavvers could ever do. Trouble with doorways.
Feral Ghouls = They do a bit better than Mirelurks, especially when the chunky ones that lift start showing up. They can kill about 2 pack members, but haven't seen them win totally. No trouble in doorways.
Mutant Hounds = Pretty dismal. Little better than scavvers though they put up a better fight. But the Pack deal with them no problem usually. Slight issue with doorways.
Stingwings = Actually put up a better fight than Mutant Hounds. Move quicker and smaller profile means harder to hit with guns and melee pack will have to get close and get stung. Still lost but did much better.
Yao Guai = Big presentable targets but tough as nails and hit like trucks. Usually, the Pack have no chance but like scorpions have big problems with doorways.
Mixed = The most balanced and even I think. This one could go either way, in testing the Pack won but only just and even then because one had a Fat Man. The Yao Guai and Scorpion do the most killing, others are pretty much fodder but the Stingwing does well.
Doorways...yeah, some of the bigger creatures have problems with doorways. It's why I didn't use Deathclaws, because most of these encounters take place in those ruined buildings. I could've moved the spawn points, but no, didn't want to do that. Besides the Disciples and Operator fights use the same ones and they are not affected by doorways. Probably why they didn't use creatures, though they could've used Raiders against The Pack or something. Eh, whatever.
If you want to do this yourself in the CK, here's how:
Navigate to Character > Quests > DLC04REAssaultCT03 <open that.
Click on Quest Alias Tab. At the bottom are five entries listed as:
DefenderScavenger1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Double click any of those, this opens up the Reference Alias for that entry. In the "Fill Type" area you will see that it'll say something like LvlScavenger. That's what you want to change, change it to something else, it doesn't have to be Lvl (levelled) but look for something beginning with that, then whatever you want. LvlDeathclaws if you really want. Change all five entries to what you want.
And that'll do it. Save and watch the slaughter.
Install using your choice of mod manager, or manually. Choose only one, though they all have the same file name anyway so they'll just get overwritten.
