So, I see a lot of people who get frustrated with the fact that it seems like once you max affinity with someone, if you don't romance them, they keep offering you that opportunity - even if you never chose a single flirt option in your conversations with them.

Poking around in the CK - it turns out you CAN get them to stop offering that to you, but it's usually tied into a fairly rude option.

For example, to get MacCready to stop offering the romance? You need to have this exchange.

"Can we ditch the friendship talk? I get the point."
"Hey, message received. There's no need to get touchy. I'll never mention it again"

And I think many of us are too nice to take those options.

All this does is hook up the 'Romance Declined - Permanent' quest stage to some of the nicer dialogue choices - onces where you specifically refer to the companion as your best friend. (Except Hancock, for him, the declined permanently state will set with the "It's been a hell of a ride" option.)

This will only set on the second time through, so if you go through the infatuation talk, tell them you're best friends, they will still offer the romance repeater as normal, but if you repeat the best friends line this time around, it should shut down the romance loop.

For now, this doesn't touch Curie, because it's quite easy to politely permanently decline her romance option.

I will also add - this is largely untested as I recently had to reconfigure my whole setup and I'm not at this stage with any of the companions. PLEASE let me know if there are any issues. I can't forsee any, but with this game, you really never know!

This edits the companion quests for Cait, Danse, Hancock, MacCready, Piper, and Preston, so if you have anything that touches those, there might be a conflict.
