About this mod

Craft a Cryo Suppressor for your hunting rifle, increase your damage output, and flash-freeze your enemies!

Purpose

This mod provides a recipe to make a Cryo Suppressor for the Hunting Rifle. This suppressor increases native ballistic damage, adds cryo damage, and adds freezing and silencing effects to all shots.

A Hunting Rifle upgraded with this suppressor along with the .50 Cal receiver will output damage comparable to a Gauss Rifle. Give it a try if you are trying a new playthrough with a hunter or sniper character!

Requirements

  • Base game
  • Gun Nut 1 perk (if you don't have it, consider using a crafting aid like One Ring to Craft Them All)
  • Materials are: 8 Adhesive, 9 Aluminum, 5 Fiberglass, 6 Screws

Usage

You can find the recipe for the suppressor near the Cryolator cabinet in the Vault 111 Overseer's office (see images for the exact location). Once you have the recipe, you can craft the suppressor at any Weapons Workbench.

The suppressor can be used in combination with any hunting rifle receiver, but will give you the best damage when paired with a .50 Cal receiver (100 Ballistic + 100 Cryo).

To increase direct damage further, add points to the Rifleman and Bloody Mess perks (for max damage of 230 Ballistic + 230 Cryo). You might also like to put points into Mister Sandman (to increase damage of silenced weapons) and Ninja (to increase sneak damage).

Compatibility

The suppressor works fine with hunting rifles that have been crafted with Crafting Mastery (which itself uses AWKCR). It should work with any mod-added rifles which provide a compatible hunting rifle suppressor mounting point.

If you use VIS-G Legendary Modifications, you will be able to add a Legendary effect to the rifle itself, which will apply alongside the built-in Freezing effect of the suppressor. Other similar mods should work, but have not been tested.

Recommendations

If you're tired of VATS and want to do more direct combat in your next playthrough, take a look at these mods:

Installation

Use your preferred mod manager. As of 0.4, ESP is the only available option - ESL will not be available.

Uninstallation

Remove the Cryo Suppressor from all weapons, save your game, exit, and use your preferred mod manager to uninstall.

Uninstallation of a mod during a playthrough may leave traces behind in your save file afterwards. To avoid the risk of save file corruption, once you have uninstalled the mod, try to go back and load a save game from a point before you installed the mod, and continue your playthrough from there.
