About this mod

Immersively adds technical schematics, books, and holotapes for various base Power Armor paints. Also removes the duplicate Sugar Bombs paint from Nuka World. Adds collectable items and (hopefully) lore-friendly ways to unlock the paints.

This amalgamates several of my smaller mods into one and adds extra content.

~~~ The Full Shebang ~~~
There were several smaller mods that I made - if I'd realized that I'd end up with so many I would have made a single mod from the start. The mods have all been superseded by this mod and are no longer really relevant on Nexus.
This adds/locks paint jobs as follows - they can be unlocked at any time by finding and reading an appropriate set of schematics/books/holotapes:
Brotherhood of Steel: Standard, Officer, Initiate, Knight, Knight-Sergeant, Knight-Captain, Paladin, Sentinel, General, and Elder
Institute: Institute X-01
Abraxo and Sugar Bombs and locks away the duplicate Sugar Bombs from Nuka World (holotapes added as kids promotional items)
Vault-Tec (the Sole Survivor isn't a Vault-Tec employee, there is no reason for him to know this automatically)
Minutemen (the Sole Survivor may not choose to follow the Minutemen questline)
Railroad (the Sole Survivor may not choose to follow the Railroad questline)
~~~ Immersion and Lore ~~~

I've attempted to make many of the items a little different-looking and worth hanging on to as a collectable. Books, schematic documents, and holotapes.

I've also done my best to make some form of lore-friendly reason for the existence of most of them. It's not some hugely-complex scavenger hunt with some vast overarching story. Simple, small, day-to-day stuff. Stuff that I hope brings an "oh yeah, of course" to mind.

~~~ Locations ~~~
Spoiler:
Show
Brotherhood of Steel - in the Prydwen: Maxson has a set of (owned) books, Ingram has a set of books near Bay 3, and there are schematics misplaced throughout the Prydwen
Institute - holotapes on Father's desk (red) and Madison Li's desk in Advanced Systems (red)
Abraxo - Charlestown Laundry
Sugar Bombs - Super Duper Mart, checkout 4
Vault-Tec - holotapes in each Overseer's office in vaults: 111, 114, 75, 81, 95 (not in 88 though)
Minutemen - schematics in the Castle tunnels beside the computer that Ronnie unlocks, and in Quincy near Sturges terminal
Railroad - schematics in the main room of the Switchboard, and on Tinker Tom's desk in their Headquarters
Schematics and books will show up in Loot Detector. Holotapes will not.
~~~ Extra ~~~

There is a mechanism for older games to collect the paint jobs for the Brotherhood of Steel and the Institute.

When run for the first time with an older game:

* checks if the Brotherhood is an enemy - if so, adds schematics in the Cambridge Police Department

* checks if the Institute is an enemy - if so, adds a holotape in Kellogg's house

Note that it only does that check once!

~~~ Honorable Mentions ~~~
ImmortalAbsol - for asking "have you thought of" and "how about" - and suggesting locations for these holotapes. Thanks for the nudges and ideas!
GoldenTriangles and Dnxyken - for both urging me to bundle the lot into a single mod instead of the umpteen that they ended up being. Thank you.
VIRIXAS - who asked for a method for older games to get the paint jobs. Thank you.
~~~ FAQ ~~~

Q: Your mod broke my game!
A: Uninstall this mod and revert to an earlier save.

Q: I've already got X paint job from playing through the game, this won't mess up that progress will it?
A: No. This uses the same method of unlocking those paint jobs, or adds a similar locking mechanism to paint jobs which didn't have it originally. For paint jobs which are unlocked through normal gameplay (Minutemen, Railroad, Brotherhood, Institute) the normal unlocking mechanism is untouched and will still function. This simply adds an additional means of unlocking those paint jobs.

Q: I have an older version of one or more of the original mods. What will happen if I switch to this?
A: Either stick with the original version, or uninstall and make a clean save (not that there is any such thing). Then install this version. Note: paint jobs that you had previously unlocked will be locked again, however paint that you've already applied will still be on the Power Armor.

For real safety: Start a new game. Uninstalling mods mid-playthrough is not supported in Fallout 4, so doing it is a toss-up that might trash your game.

Q: The Brotherhood paint jobs don't come up 100% in <favorite sorting mod>.
A: That's because I've not yet figured out how to get VIS and VIS-G tags working. Feel free to make a patch of your own. (I've got so much on at the moment that I can't give a timeline for this.)

Q: XBox?
