Thanks everybody for your feedback, suggestions, kudos and endorsements. I will add more colours/textures with time and will look into making a portable version, this is all likely to be added. I have a movable/portable sleeping bag in my another mod (Settlement Markers), but maybe I should add it to the portable tent mod instead? What do you think? I might also try to improve the model to make it a little more realistic. As for making new models, it can happen, but it's a really long way and I have lots of things to accomplish for now, so it's not going to be soon.
Added portable tent version, there is a link on the description page. Settlement version is out now as an update for this mod.
Hi I still have this installed .. I did not try EVERY one of them yet .. but the ones I HAVE tried did not have any FLOORS/bottoms in the Images I can see that SOME of them have flooring on the bottom is this only a FEW of them that have floors?
I can see a blue sleeping bag but i can't see one as an option under beds - is that from a different mod? Would it be possible to have snappoints for mattresses (well, sleeping bags) like in https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20697 ?
If not, no big deal; this does what it says it does, so i gave it an endorsement.
Thank you. The blue sleeping bag is from the portable version of the tent mod( Kitcat's camping gear mod). They are movable/draggable versions and can be used by player only. You can place vanilla sleeping bags inside the tents or sleeping bags from any other mods.
I realize that both mods are new and still being worked on but have you thought about merging the portable tents with these sttlement versions into one plugin?
Thank you! Technically it's possible to merge them and if you are experienced with XEdit, you can certainly do this, it would only require changing a number of base ID-s. When I was making the mod my first idea was to create a multifunctional version. However, it caused a few problems. If I just made the existing records function as both personal and settlement tents, there would be no protection from accidentality messing it up by scrapping or storing portable tents in the workshop mode. If I duplicated all the tents, the mod would become heavier and it would be impossible to turn it into light master. So there is just no advantage in doing this . You can use the ESL version if you don't want the mod to take a mod slot. Merging them would not reduce the overall number of records.
Very Cool mod I have been looking for a tent to use!!! If you need more textures and detailed Normal maps just PM me. I am a texture artist. Ask Damanding, I do a few textures for her mods.
Hello, thank you very much for the offer, I might PM you at some point when I'm done with the model and portable version scripting. I made a few myself, but I don't really understand how to unite the shape normal map(if I bake a high poly into a low poly) map with a texture normal map like burlap or other material imitation that I can make in 2d program, so I did not even bother with making detailed normal maps...I'm not a 3d artist, though I do usual classic painting :) . So an advice would be helpful too.
Your tent mod has become my absolute favorite because:
1. It is large enough that my character does not get stuck inside when he rises in the morning. Sometimes that happens when using the Campsite pole tent.
2. It looks like it is more weather tight than the Campsite pole tent, which has quite a few holes in it.
3. It is easier to "furnish" than the Far Harbor tent (IMO) which is larger than the Campsite pole tent but seems to be a bit smaller than yours.
I use your tent for temporary settlement housing until the settlers build their Sim Settlement city plan. It works great for that, but I would love to have a portable version! If you want to make it look more weathered, that is OK but patch any holes please. I hate how many shelters in FO4 are like that. No one with any sense would live like that.
Regarding improvements, finding a way to drop the door flap would be more immersive to me for a post-apocalyptic tent than a zippered entry door. Most likely they would be making tents out of animal hides in that universe as well.
Thank you, that is really cool to know and thanks for your suggestions and interesting feedback. I don't promise anything, some things are just beyond my current skills, but I'll take it all into consideration.
Kitcat, regarding your sticky question, yeah, I would like to see portable version with sleeping bag and tent. Textures which are weathered would also be cool, as has been noted several times already :) Zip door also, but as you said, it is far fetched.
I have just tried these out in my settlement build, placed them in sanctuary near the trader station to make a small trader camp. they look really good and have alot of room inside i could make an entire settlement of mini tent homes. Great item thank you for sharing.
Hard to answer...My 3d experience is limited with the tent and a tin can I made in CAD years ago ...but if I'll have time and inspiration to continue with 3d, I might make something like this. I like the military tent idea and would like to have it in my settlements too.
These are cute little things. Don't underestimate your 3d skills. I downloaded the ESP version last night and was going to add it to my game, then I saw you had an ESL version. So, I opted for that. The tent size is perfect for the game tiles. Now, to make a little tent city some place. :)
I broke apart the BA2 file to see the textures. To offer more then just a cookie cutter tent, this could be put into like 4 or 5 earth tone/dirty colors. I am going to see if i can add "patches" to mine like its been repaired a few times. All in all, this is a wonderful mod and I look forward to having these in my little communities. Cheap affordable housing for my poor citizens.
Would it be possible to make like 7 or 8 of the different panels that snap together creating "custom" tents, so there is a varied difference in them? There could even be a "straight" side to elongate the tent. The snap together portions could be bottomless to aid in that nightmare. Another idea is to have snap points, like 2 or 3 on each panel, then have a few snap on "patches" or "stains" or whatever.. Anyways, it's just an idea and i will use these little havens regardless. TY :)
Great thanks you for the feedback, lovely pictures and ideas, I'll probably add more colours with time, not sure about everything else...If my 3d skills improve to the level where I can make it, I'll add more models or snappable parts

Screenshots look very cool!

Keep up the good work!
But, I am getting a bit repetitive here. Wont push it any more :)
