The character has two voice volume levels - one in gameplay and one in cutscenes. This mod does not take that into account. What may sound fine in gameplay will be too low for cutscenes. If only both the gameplay voice and cutscene voice can be lowered uniformly

Thanks for the info. Been a bit since I played/modded FO4, but I may have to revisit this soon to see if I can improve it to account for a secondary volume level.

any way this can be done, but reversed, to npcs? npcs are insanely quiet while the players voice is what i'd consider normal. might just be me though since i gotta have my laptops fan at max or it overheats, causing dialogue to sound even quieter, while everything else is a good volume

Awesome. Player voice is way too loud in VR. Thanks

Can this be done with peers? In Spanish, Paladin Danse has a problem, when he speaks, 90% of the time his volume is "too low", he rarely speaks normal and it is very hard to listen to him in conversations.

Would it be possible to increase your voice volume?

Unfortunately there is a lot of limitations with voice volume. The player has it's own volume, but all NPCs share the same volume level. Both the player and NPC volumes are tied directly into the Voice slider on the Audio Settings in the main menu and they can't be set above the main voice volume, only lower.

I wouldn't really know how to do this myself, I'd have to do some research on the topic, but the audio files for him may need to be manipulated in order to boost his particular volume. If I can figure out how, I'll let you know.

So basically, there is no easy way to only increase Danse's voice volume. The only 'easy' solution I can think of is to just manipulate the normal audio settings in the main menu when you need to speak to him. Turn down all other audio settings and leave the master and voice all the way up.

Yes, I tried to modify Danse's audio files myself, but I did not know much about sound editing and I did not get anything ... decent, basically it spoiled the voice xD

If you find out how to do that I would like to know, some tutorial something welcome hehe, thanks!

hm.. this is cool :3 very useful. but it makes me think of something else tho.. how would one change the voice modulation, like a power armor does.. kinda because i want my char to sound like the Mechanist. which is.. kinda loud voice with a metal or 'robotic' echo to it

Interesting... I doubt I have the skill to tackle such a project as voice modulating, BUT there may be a roundabout solution for you. I haven't tried or tested this, so sorry if it doesn't pan out. You will probably need to use two different mods. There is a mod that makes it sound like you always have the power armor on https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12384 and another that is a slider for voice frequency https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/30953. I would imagine if you use the two together, you could come up with a fairly unique voice for your character . Not sure if you could get the echo effect the same as the Mechanist though. Good luck!

Lol. Nice. Was going to update mine last weekend with more options, but I guess you beat me to it! Good work!

Ah, sorry about that :) Just started trying to mod F4 a couple months ago. I've been trying to get a slider working, but I've yet to fully decipher MCM for it. Only had the muted voice mod when I started fiddling with it. Then I saw yours pop up a few weeks ago with the 50% option and didn't look like you were going to give any more. Figured I'd throw these out there, so people could have more options for everything in between. Great job yourself!

I went ahead and updated mine since I had time this morning. It'll give more options than I had initially offered and a different kind of plugin option. Variety is always good. So people will have your files as options, and mine, too.
If you get a slider working with Mod Configuration Menu, that'd be fantastic. You'd probably blow both of these mods out of the water and have people flocking to it to install. Haha. I doubt that's something I have the patience to try to tackle.
I look forward to seeing if you can get it done!

Hmmmm, doesn't really sound like much of a point for me to have mine up anymore. As a new modder, I was trying to create what you did, to make it not use a plugin slot. It appears I chose the wrong option when I created the files. I just made a straight ESL, didn't realize the other option was the one I wanted. Kinda defeats the purpose I had in mind when I created these now. Rookie mistake I guess. I would imagine yours would be the preferred mod since it doesn't use the slot and I don't want to lead anyone astray thinking this will do that. Plus, I don't want to steal any downloads from you either. Think I'll be taking this down soon unless you know of a good reason to really leave it up...

Yours won't use a slot either. It'll just stay up with the ESMs (because it's a "full" or "true" ESL), loading before the ESPs. Some people may want this option.
If you ever want to do what i did, you can follow this tutorial:
      https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/35922
You pretty much just change the file header record to "ESL" for an ESP plugin.

Really, it's up to you. I didn't mean to make you feel like you shouldn't keep yours posted, though! <3
If you plan to leave yours up, let me know and I'll post on my description page a link to this mod for those that may want the "full ESL" option.

Thank you for the explanation! So many different file types to choose from, can be a bit confusing for a new modder. I appreciate the assistance in clarifying the differences between the ESL types. I made a huge notice so people know what they are getting now and differences between the two. I guess I'll let the people decide which they want lol. No need to link to mine though, but thanks if you still do :)
