I think it gives me a sexy King of the Zombies look.
-Hancock

WHAT
This mod seeks to give the game a little more lore-friendly version of Mayor Hancock that is closer to his original concept art. It customizes Hancock's look and slightly alters his stats. Version 4.0 rebuilds the body and face textures completely, blends skin seams so that they are (almost) unnoticeable, gives him new underwear, reworks the vanilla eye textures into HD variations that humans can also use, and allows for some other facial features in looks menu.

OPTIONS

Eyes
The mod reworks the vanilla ghoul eye textures, plus adds a couple new ones. A simple FOMOD will ask you to choose a default eye color for Hancock to start with. But this can always be changed in-game via Looks Menu.

  • Hancock Eyes Dark
  • Hancock Eyes Jaundice
  • Hancock Eyes Milky
  • Hancock Eyes Silver Clear
  • Hancock Eyes Silver Darker - New in v4.0!
  • Hancock Eyes Yellow Ring
  • Hancock Eyes Glowing - New in v4.0!
Face
In addition to eyes, if you truly want to make Hancock your own personal version, v4.0 now allows you to apply different features from within Looks Menu! This includes some beards, eyebrows, and skin tone.

Body
There is one body style based on Leito86's Enhanced Vanilla Bodies never-nude mesh. No nude options. However, underwear has been redone (see pictures). Thanks to Jay33721 for letting me use his Trunks for Men EVB - SHB - NM texture!

If you really want a nude version, I will be uploading all of my texture files as a modder's resource (minus any elements I got permission to use) if you'd like to give it a try yourself. For Body Talk, Extended Skeletons, Super Hero Bodies, etc., you're on your own. Feel free to use these files, but I won't be supporting it if you have problems.

REQUIREMENTS

1K vs. 2K: Which one to choose?

1k is 1024 x 1024 pixel resolution. This is the native game resolution. You just need the base game for this to work.

2k is 2048 x 2048 pixel resolution. Must be used with one of the mods below.

++ TROUBLESHOOTING ++

++ Brown Face Bug ++

Choosing the incorrect download or running your game without one of the prerequisites will result in the Brown Face bug. Be sure you download the right one! If you receive this problem, check to make sure you have the correct prerequisites. If you notice other ghouls have this problem in the game as a result of this mod, let me know in the bug log.

++ Conflicts & Compatibility ++

In addition to choosing the right version above, note that this mod also changes some things for the vanilla GhoulRace. This was done in order to keep Hancock as a ghoul instead of having to convert him to human. Mostly, it just ads face tints and a human face mesh specifically for Hancock. If you try to alter a ghoul NPC in the game, other options will come up in Looks Menu, but most of them won't be compatible. Hopefully, this makes them even look a tiny bit better with sub-surface scattering and some facial improvements (scars, in particular, were horrible on ghouls). No stats were altered for ghouls.

Obviously, this will also conflict with any other mod that alters Hancock's appearance or SPECIAL stats. This has been tested and works with other companion mods, though, such as Amazing Companion Tweaks, Companion Heal Thyself, Better Companions, Companion Command and Tactics, and Player Comments and Headtracking.

++ ESL Version? ++

Nope, it can't be done. Too many vanilla forms are altered and it causes major problems when switching from ESP to ESL through a current game, which most people are probably doing. It works all right on a brand new game, but since this is an established mod with already many downloads, I don't want to confuse anyone or break their game by implying either can be used at any time. You'd be shocked how many people don't read directions.

++ Current Game Saves ++

It should work. It did for me. Mostly. Ahem. Just be sure to replace or overwrite all files when you download (do not merge). If you want to take the extra precaution to delete the old mod before installing the new one, that's probably a good idea. Do not open your current game and save a new version without this mod. Doing so will mess up your game, possibly irrevocably.

++ Help! I made too many changes to Hancock's face in the game! How do I "reset" him? ++

You have a few options.

  • Included with this mod is a Looks Menu Preset version. You must have F4SE plugin and Looks Menu to do this. To apply, just go into Looks Menu, click on Presets, and find the one called Sexy Hancock. Apply it and you should set him back to the beginning of this mod.
  • If you don't have or don't run F4SE and Looks Menu, you can look for a program called Face Ripper that applies faces from old saves to new ones. If you've never used Face Ripper, read the directions, as I will not support this application. If you choose to use it, that's on you.
  • You can attempt to reinstall this mod. This will work to reverse any cosmetic changes you made (hairstyle, beard-style, eye color, etc.). If you have changed any morph points or actual structure to his face, this will not reset the structure. Those are baked into your save game. You're stuck using one of the two methods above, or rolling back to a previous save.

++ Uninstallation ++

Heh, good luck. In theory, just uncheck the mod and run the game, but like I said, this mod makes many changes to his character that are baked into your save (morph points, hair, characteristics, etc.). Unchecking the mod will result in missing meshes and textures, and will probably leave you with a floating set of teeth in an empty wig. Amusing as it is, it's also not exactly an improvement.

You can try to do a whole song and dance by deselecting the mod, doing a clean save, then using Face Ripper (mentioned in option 2 above) to reset him to vanilla. I've done this to my game when I started over making this mod, as I was wiling to take that risk. But I don't encourage or recommend it because it took a LOT of fiddling around to "factory reset" him.

You're better off committing to this mod through a single game play. If you don't want to use the mod anymore, start a new game.

++ XBOX / Playstation ++

Playstation is impossible. Sony doesn't allow importing of outside assets, models and textures to their store. There are some mods that do a reasonable job of it just using vanilla assets, but they are not my mod, nor do I support them or give any recommendations.

XBOX users do have a version available on Bethesda.net. It's the previous version of this mod. Make sure you read the directions carefully, as there is a prerequisite there, as well. I may attempt to update that version soon with this one, but I'm not in a hurry, nor am I sure this version would be much of an improvement, to be honest. Also, I don't own an XBOX, so you're kind of on your own for troubleshooting.

PERMISSION & CREDITS

I'm a storyteller at heart and I feel this version tells Hancock's story in the very best possible way. As such, I can hardly take the credit for this mod. I merely took Dysthe's idea and ran with it because I didn't want to see the idea die from inactivity. I also dissected many other mods for inspiration and my own education, either by studying their textures, or by comparing the files in Creation Kit or FO4Edit. I wanted to provide a complete mod that gives as many options and as few problems as possible.

Good luck and have fun! If you like it, don't forget to Endorse or drop me a comment. Thank you for downloading.
