So you've now removed cigarettes from the Commonwealth?

Yup.



But why?

Well you've just spent a whole day dodging raiders, radroaches and radiation only to kill yourself with a cigarette.  The Commonwealth is a dangerous enough place without having to make it even worse with an elevated risk of cancer.  I contracted a few Invisible Collector Gnomes to go and collect them all, made them smoke them, and now they're all making new years resolutions to quit smoking and stocking up on vape pens.



Really?

Well no.  I was just messing about with the CK related to another mod, and decided to delete all the cigarettes and cigars from the game to test something.  That's really all it is.  A rough and dirty delete of almost all the smokeables from the game.



Even the San Francisco Sunlights?

No.  I know they're quest related, so they're still there.  The ones in the house at the start of the game are there as well.



So what about the cute teddy bears with cigars or characters that smoke?

Yeah those are gone as well.  Well the teddy bears and Piper aren't gone but the smokes are.  I'm not sure whether characters will still do the animation, but there are rumours of a black market in cigarettes, and smokers are known to go to extreme lengths to hide their contraband in a keister stash.



OK, what gives with 3 versions?

The three versions are as follows...

Smoke Free Commonwealth is just the basic mod (ESP & ESL versions).

SFC - Nicotine Gum Edition has the bubblegum turned into nicotine gum, this has the perk of removing 1 Rad per second for 5 minuntes like a really slow RadAway).  This is for people who thought I was a draconian bastard on par with Theresa May, so now the people in the screen have something to destress with and it will help keep their teeth clean.  By the way, you do know they're not real people?  Just checking.

SFC - Black Market Baccy is an attempt to address what people have (quite rightly) said about me removing a source of cloth from the game.  In this version there are 6 footlockers dotted about where you'll find raiders.

These contain a lot of baccy, as I've pretty much modelled it on the 16 sleeves (cartons if you're US) of cigarettes & 60 packets of smoking tobacco (which are replaced by cigars) which is used as an unofficial "limit" by a lot of UK tobacco smugglers bringing it in from Europe.  There's a mix of cartons, packets, boxes and loose smokables.  I've also messed about with the materials you'll get when you recycle, and linked the price to the component value so the prices for selling them is higher.  The cigarette packets *should* also spawn in cigarette machines as well, and this is by design - not a bug.

There's a footlocker on the top of the building opposite the museum in Concord, and the rest are in or around (as in outside) places you get sent to for quests.  If there are raiders around it then there might be some Black Market Baccy.  I'll probably put a quest in which will reward you if you find them all.  Oh, and they respawn, too.



Any other bugs?

It probably conflicts with any smoking related mods, and I haven't given it a thorough play through yet to see if there are any other random features.



Is this just a dig at smokers?


Not at all.  I smoke myself so I can't have a pop at them, or at least without being hypocritical.  I just do little things, and occasionally upload them.



Is that it?

Did you know that Jin Ling Cigarettes (a real world brand) are the only cigarettes that are made for smugglers, cannot be bought legally, and are even victims of counterfeiters!  Don't smoke them either because they're harsh, and taste and smell like burning shit.
