About this mod

A kooky car just for a giggle. Comes in six colourful and/or silly variations.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Hi, I make colourful/quirky stuff.  If you also play The Sims games, you might know me as Esmeralda from Mod The Sims or Ezzy from Mamba City.

EZZY'S COLOURFUL (AND SOMETIMES KOOKY) COMMONWEALTH: THE BATHROOMOBILE

ESL versions included for those who prefer .esl to .esp.  Note in case you don't already know how to install .esl files: Install the .esl with Nexus Mod Manager, then close NMM, go back into it again, and then manually click the mod in the list under NMM's Plugins tab in order for it to show up in the game.

FIRST, SOME VERY IMPORTANT CREDITS ARE DUE:
FULL CREDITS GO TO M150 FOR STATING THAT OTHERS CAN USE HIS MODS AND SCRIPTS TO BUILD THEIR OWN MODS FROM.  I based this mod on his Raider Quad Bike.  It was thanks to studying that mod and re-using its scripts and some of its assets, that I was able to figure out  how to make a car for this game.  A big DOMO ARIGATO (thank you very much) to that great and generous modder.  (I've tested this mod with his Raider Quad Bike installed at the same time and they do not conflict, so you can use both of them.)
HUGE, ENORMOUS AND MOST GRATEFUL THANKS TO BLAHBLAHDEEBLAHBLAH FOR ADVICE ON NUMEROUS ISSUES THAT CROPPED UP DURING MY STRUGGLES WITH MAKING THIS!  Again, without his help this would never have gotten off the ground (or even on the ground).
AND A GREAT BIG THANKS TO MY GOOD PALS HOMERETTE AND RAFAEL FOR THEIR PATIENT AND THOROUGH PLAYTESTING.

*Please note that you need to have the Automatron DLC in order to use this item.*

Sometimes I like to just make something completely silly, and this is a remake of a car I previously made for The Sims.  It originally came about because I was trying to make a working motorcycle and sidecar but ran into insurmountable technical problems, and in my frustration I decided to make something ridiculous - which DID work.  The Bathroomobile, sort of a 'toilet bike' and 'bathtub sidecar' and the name being sort of a play-on-words of Batmobile, only with toilets. (If you're curious as to what the car uses as fuel, see here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-10881080 )

Please note that this 'car' is for silliness purposes only and is not intended to be realistic in any way, including conforming to any laws of physics or indeed how any functioning vehicle actually operates.  Having said that, though, its inability to conform to the laws of physics is actually useful, because it is a very light and buoyant car that not only glides effortlessly over obstacles but can  jump from height to height if you're deft with keyboard and mouse.

It comes in six variations: Three basic versions with empty bathtubs in three suite colours: White (default), a cartoony 'Fish' pattern, and a floral 'Hippie' pattern, and three in White with animal models in the bathtub so that you can feel you are taking a friend with you: Cat and Jangles, Molerat, and Mutant Hound.  I did originally make this so that it took companions as passengers, but it was way too unreliable; most of the time the companion(s) just stood there and wouldn't get in.... So, sorry but this was the best compromise I could come up with!

To construct it, you craft a grenade at the Chem bench (4 plastic and 2 steel), throw it and the Bathroomobile will appear.  If you decide you want to destruct it later, throw a frag grenade at it and it will blow up, leaving behind a box containing the car. Or, if you decide you want a different model, throwing a grenade of your new model at the old car will blow up the old one and turn it into a box containing the old model.

Then you can pick up the box and either keep in your inventory, where it will turn into a Bathroomobile grenade (that way, you can take a 'portable B-Mobile' with you everywhere you go), or you can store it in a workshop bench or storage box.

You enter and exit it with the Use key, and drive it with whatever keys you have Forward and Backward bound to, plus the mouse. It uses 3rd-person POV and looks cute driving along.   Sorry the below pics are a bit blurry, the car uses a rather long POV and it's not possible to get very close-up pics.

If you have companions, they follow you on foot.

ISSUES:

-The wheels do not turn.
-The POV is 3rd-person and fairly long; please don't ask me to change it, I don't know how.
-You can not use a weapon while driving.  However, the car gives you a huge amount of damage resistance, so you can easily drive away from combat
without having to defend yourself.  if you really do want to fight, you need to exit the car.
-Every once in a while there will be a split-second freezing effect while driving - this apparently happens when entering a new cell, such as going across a bridge or into a different area.  It does seem to happen with all vehicles in FO4 AFAIK.
-Occasionally, if you park the Bathroomobile somewhere where there are enemies nearby, they may attack the parked vehicle.  I tried everything I could think
to configure for this to not happen, but no luck.  However, it's actually quite useful, because it makes the enemy stay in one place so that it's easier for you to simply shoot them!
-In some lighting situations there is dark shadowing on the animal models on the non-driver side of the animal-carrying versions of the car - you don't normally see this when driving, but might see it when parked.  I wasn't able to figure out why this is or how to fix it, sorry.

Here's a short video clip to show an enemy attacking the car and how it makes him an easy target, and then how the car looks driving, its buoyancy, damage resistance, and ability to leap tall ships in several small bounds.

UPDATE:  The B-Mobile was shown in this fun Al Chestbeach video review of four new Fallout 4 vehicles:

Thanks for looking, hope you'll find this car a bit of fun.

Basic B-Mobile is 5378 polys, the ones with animals are around 6000. Toilet, bathtub and wheels are default Fallout 4 assets.  Fish and Hippie patterns were from the now-defunct freephotoshoppatterns website.  Made with Bethesda Creation Kit, FO4Edit, Milkshape, Outfit Studio, Nifskope, Bethesda Archive Extractor, Material Editor, and Photoshop.
