LOVE LOVE LOVE....... but where's that arm cannon?!?! oh boy a multifunctional arm cannon with ammo types based on Prime 1 and 2 would be insane! maybe based off how the needle gun works?
If the helmet is in your inventory but you can't equip it, you have a mod that prevent you from doing so. Can you equip other helmets,vanilla or from other mods? If so , maybe try to reinstall the mod. Also, as always , be sure to have the latest version of Fallout 4 installed.

Secondly, I wanted to mention that I am I having problems with armour pieces clipping through the suit. I have installed the suggested mod 'concealed armours' and there doesn't seem to be any issues in Vortex (i.e deployment rules). Any thoughts?
The mod has lots of issues apparently (40 bugs) it's more likely your game being updated and the mod being outdated. The mod author did not updated his mod since 2015 !!! You should try another mod that does the same thing, but most of them have not been updated in a while. Beware also, because most of these mods make all armors disappear, not only yours.

I reinstalled the mod and there are no file conflicts.
