About this mod

Disables all placed outdoor lights to improve performance in exterior areas. This mod is intended primarily for VR players attempting to reach a stable 90fps, but may also be effective for reaching 60fps on very low-end hardware. Does not modify interior lighting.

Permissions and credits
No Exterior Lights 0.1: Testing Version

Intended for VR players attempting to reach low or zero reprojection.

May also be helpful for low end laptops.

This mod selectively disables all light references in outdoor cells only. Significantly improves performance outdoors, enough that high end hardware may be able to supersample without reprojection. Placed lights are far less important outdoors than in, where turning off all the lights results in a completely black space.

Dynamic lights (sun, moon, flashlight, explosions, NPC lights) are not impacted.

Use with PhyDark
If you experience reprojection indoors, try PhyDark 164 or 128 (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25740/), which will reduce the radius of every interior light and improve performance indoors without completely ruining the visuals.

Compatability
Unlike the global light remover mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11076/) and PhyDark (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25740/), this mod disables light references in cells across the exterior world. Because Fallout 4 uses many of its common light prototypes both indoors and out, this was the only way to selectively edit outdoor lights.

What this means is that the mod edits many of the exterior cells. My recommendation is to load this mod before any others which modify exterior world cells. Those mods should function properly, but any cells they modify will have their lights re-enabled.

DLC
This first test version was built from the Fallout4 base esm only. If run with DLC, it will override any changes they make to the non-DLC exterior world. Not recommended, but feel free to try.

This mod was built using a zedit patcher (source available in downloads) which searched all references in Fallout4.esm and set them to initially disabled if they had lighting data and were in non-interior cells.
