The mod is updated to version 0.6, now when you press the button in elevator it should be a bit less dark inside - I've changed the transition effect a bit to be light gray instead of pitch black. I can totally remove this shading effect and I have that in my plans but for now it have it's use: because lights in the source cell and elevator cell are different, transition between them looks weird without some minor shading. I'm currently working on a script what can add elevator lights to source cell too so elevator interior should look same in elevator cell and in source cell and so shading on transition between them is not needed.

I have to say, that most elevators do have working lights, including the elevator in Vault 81. If you are not seeing them, it must be some kind of mod conflict going on. There are very few elevators in the game that do have working interior lights. I do like the repairs outside call buttons, that is cool. I would go through your game with mods turns off to see if you can find the mod that might be removing or turning off the lights in your elevators.
are you sure you don't have anything else fixing lights? because for testing I have two installs of the game on two PCs. one is my gaming setup and other less powerful one have only all DLCs and HD texture pack installed. Only difference for me was broken elevator floor display thing on gaming setup with mods. also all loading elevators use same interior cells (only depending on elevator type, like util, vault, public, etc) with same objects inside. and in CK with only main game files loaded there are only 4 light sources - the ones you can see behind walls when you move up or down.

This way there wont be any light disturbing the elevator car simulation from the outside.
