I am trying to edit one of the skins so I can play using the dirty raider skin, without having all the other npcs have it too. I tried swapping the textures by renaming the raider ones and putting them in the folder. The skin comes out weird though, I'm guessing something to do with lacking a material file. I don't know how the default female raiders get the skin applied though. Anyone have any ideas?

You are on the right path. My guess is that the dirty texture you are using is vanilla or EVB. It is not compatible with CBBE body, thus it looks weird when applied to it.

Is it possible to rename the folders so that it's a bit easier to keep track of what textures and meshes I have installed? Many thanks.

I just installed version 2.4 and each time i click on the "Clothes" button to remove clothing from any characters, the game freezes...
    Anyone else got that issue?

Also, if i may make a suggestion, would it be possible to be able to RENAME the skin slot in game?
Instead of having NANO and skin 1-12...

I think this might actually be related to some issue we are currently experiencing with Looksmenu latest version...
But i can no longer apply skins to anyone else but the main character... this is bad now.

Can I use this mod with Fusion Girl and JaneBod(+JaneBodExtended)? I'm wondering because it requires CBBE which I don't use. I really love this mod. Its a very interesting mod.

trial and error. but could work. you obv cant use the sildersets from this mod. u have to build your fusion body and go to Data\Meshes\actors\character\characterassets and copy femalebody.nifs into your desired folder from this mod. no need to switch textures since fusion body is cbbe compatible.

I use this mod with Cbbe and Atomic Beauty at the same time. so it should work just fine

Ok ran through the installation was able to use BodySlide and create the needed texture and put them all into the PlayerHumanFemaleCustom_00. Ran Looks menu and Voila! Worked like a champ. Synth is now chewing up the world. Now here is where I am running into an issue. When I fast travel, or load a save game the texture is not there. However when I fire up looks menu it shows that the skin is selected. Exit from looks menu and the texture is reapplied. What could be stopping the texture from being applied when the system is doing a player rebuild after fast travel. I have ASO loaded after LooksMenu as well as my PipBoy mods as I know they can sometimes futz with the hand textures.

    Hi there.

Great mod! I didn't think something like this would be possible. Now I get to run around with a Japanese School Girl and a Hulking Monster of a woman together at the same time.

Anyhow, its not without issues. Similar to the other posts here, I have an issue where the body texture and meshes combo selected in the skins overlay menu often reverts back to the installed textures and meshes.

For example, I have a combination of Valkyr Face and Atomic Beauty body and textures installed in the Cait 2 preset. Generally it works without a hitch, I am able to have that preset, along with another preset made using Oni skin together. No issues. However, whenever I reload a save, the skins revert back to the default skin I have installed through normal means. The face textures remained the same, and the facial features of the preset rarely has any issues.

I figured out that if I enter into the slm menu for that npc I'm applying the new texture and mesh overlays on, I could pop the clothing option on and off once, which often fixes it, but if it doesn't, I can just go into the skins overlay menu and select the preset again. This is very frustrating though, and its the only thing keeping me away from having settlers of all kinds of bodies and skin textures together in one room. Please let me know your thoughts! I am confident that my load order is correct, with ASO down towards the bottom. I have also tried the wordpad manual solution that another post provided, but the skin information within the .json file is correct, so that is not the issue.

If this issue gets fixed I will be so very happy!

    Thanks

Using the 2.4 update released on the 11th, I've been having the issue some others have mentioned where player the skin reverts to the BaseHumanFemale skin during gameplay. I've been able to reproduce it on a clean install with minimal mods loaded.

    1) Create a new character
    2) Load FemaleTextureCustom_00 in looksmenu
    3) Select a looksmenu preset
    4) Accept player
    5) Walk around a few seconds and quicksave.
    6) Quickload and the skin will revert to whatever is in BaseHumanFemale.

This will also trigger whenever going between indoor/outdoor areas or entering/exiting power armor.

Load order in case it helps:

Place ASO below looks menu compendium, Use Unique Player and followers as base... Fo4 base game "Is chargen face preset" is not selected when teleporting leaving interior or loading save game will reset looks menu preset.....

I've tried it with Unique Player & Followers Redux and the skins are still reverting. They will sometimes stay through a quicksave if I load the skin/body preset and accept, but do not modify the face in anyway. This is problematic because loading the skin/body alters the face preset (or at least the one I'm trying to use). This may very well be a bug in LooksMenu, but unfortunately, it is a deal breaker if I can't use a face and body preset simultaneously.

      Hi there,
I don't want to ask the same thing again, I just wanted to report, that I have the same issue.
The Skin overrides get reset after loading the game or other events, like it is unselected... but I guess that is better reported at the Looksmenu mod page. I don't think it is an issue only affecting ASO.
But it is a real annoying issue, since ASO is an aweseome mod and adds so much to my character ... I hope it can be solved!
Thanks a lot for the mod and looking into it! :-)

EDIT: I was thinking about a workaround at least for myself, by hotkeying certain skins. Is there a console command to put a specific skin override to a character? Is there a list of console commands for looksmenu anywhere, I can't find one. That would be awesome!

After giving up and coming back to this, I think I have discovered a workaround, albeit a manual one, to this issue. Essentially, the problem boils down to custom presets (whether downloaded or created prior to installing ASO) do not have a skin associated with them. So, after selecting a skin, if you reload a preset, it clears the skin from the character. The weird behavior is that this doesn't have an effect until you reload the game. It's at that point that the base or default skin will load instead of the ASO one you selected. Here's a procedure I've used to work around this:

      1) Install ASO and add your textures to one of the folders.
      2) Load the game and save your current face to a preset if you don't already have one created. (slm 14 in console)
      3) Enter the skin menu, and select the skin that corresponds to the folder from step one that contains your textures.
      4) Save a new preset and just call it "temporary".
      5) Alt-tab and look for the preset file ("Data\F4SE\Plugins\F4EE\Presets\temporary.json")
      6) Open this file in wordpad or equivalent text editor.
      7) Look for a line that corresponds to the skin you selected (eg: "Skin" : "Astins_Skin_Override_00",)
      8) Copy this line exactly, including punctuation. Make a note of where it is located in the file. (Mine was the line above TintOrder, but it can vary)
      9) Open you original preset that you saved in step 2 or one you downloaded using wordpad or equivalent text editor.
      10) Add the line you copied from step 8 into the same location in this file and save.
      11) Alt-tab back into the game, and load your original preset. It should correctly load your face and have the correct skin associated with it.

      Hope this helps!

I'm very confused. How exactly does this work? Like what do I need to do to prepare this within the game after installing?
    The video didn't help me.

The main issue I'm having is I was told this worked with the face texture which... it doesn't seems to work unless you use the default 1st choice and nothing more.
I can't change the eyes, nose, chin, whatever. If I do, it does not use the custom texture I'm using for the head.
