I've removed all Cell/World edits from the mod thanks to the brilliant Base Object Swapper (that is now a hard requirement).

This will remove any cell/previs issues with other mods, and will allow this mod to replace hand placed cigarettes and packs from other mods.

I haven't updated any of the patches (because I've been out of the F4 modding scene for a while so I'm not sure what's even used anymore), so if you want a patch for a mod, please feel free to ask.

Not sure what's happening but for some reason this mod just stops working altogether after a short period of time.

Edit: For anyone else who might have this issue (and also has Workshop Plus installed), open the console and type "player.getisghost". If it says 1, then Workshop plus has activated ghost mode (a current bug with the mod) and this prevents smokes from working. Just type in "player.setghost 0" and voila, smoking now works again. You can also permanently avoid this bug by disabling 'Invisibility' and 'Invulnerability' in the Workshop Plus MCM settings, which is good to do anyway, as these settings will usually bug out and make your character invulnerable every time you exit the workshop.

That's good to know, thank you! I haven't played in a bit but I do use Workshop Plus so I'll keep it in mind. Appreciate the info!

Hey! I made a patch for this mod for users of FIS - The NEW FallUI Item Sorter. It adds an icon and moves smokes to the "drugs" category in the inventory screen. Do you want the patch here or should I make a separate mod page for it?

Hi! Thanks! You can make a page for it if you'd like. I believe someone else has a version for complex patcher too!

Any idea where I could find the complex sorter patch? I've been looking, but no luck. This is my favorite smoking mod btw. I prefer not having to sit through an animation every time I need a caffeine hit.

There's an all-in-one complex sorter patch here that applies to this mod as well! And thank you, very glad you like it! :)

Just what I was thinking like as a random Idle animation.

Would be cool to get an animation for this from Immersive Animation Framework

First there is an animation of pulling out a lighter or a match to light a cigarette, and then the player is free to act with a cigarette in his mouth to fight or move. That'd be amazing. And we need all kinds of smokable things as in CigaretteInMouth. LOL A gril can dream.

Factz @Fumino I've always wanted an Immersive Interaction-esque mod to merge with CiginMouth and Smokeable Cigarettes to combine them all and allow for seamles animation interruption lol That is a beautiful dream

There is no animation for B, it just has a sound. The cigarette automatically comes to his mouth. I think it is very unrealistic.

There are other smoking mods. Please feel free to check those out. This is just meant to turn cigars/cigarettes into an actual consumable with the added bonus of seeing them on your character (since they aren't consumed instantly like food).

Does this conflict with Smokeable Cigars - Cigarettes? I really like this mod for being able to see smokes in peoples mouths as they go about their business, but I want the animations and such from Smokeable on top of this mod, thanks in advance.

Sorry to be a bit of an airhead but do I need CigaretteInMouth as well for this to work?

I'm pretty sure it would conflict. It's been a while since I looked at that mod but I imagine it replaces cigarettes/cigars just like this one does.

But no, you don't need CigaretteInMouth. Feel free to download it anyway just to endorse it!

The only thing that I wish this mod had would be the smoke effect seen when characters like Nick Valentine smoke during idle animations (How does a robot even smoke anyway really is the biggest question in the Fallout series) Aside from that everything is lovely :3

I've been meaning to try rigging a wispy smoke effect, just haven't gotten around to it. The quick mock up I tried a while back looked kind of weird when you were moving, since the smoke was always traveling upwards lol

I see, well if you ever figure out how to make it look more normal than I think that would make this mod a 10/10! Also, thanks for making it in the first place, it's much better than the other ones I've found ^w^

A question on textures. If I retexture the packs and cartons. will they show when in the world space? or will they default to the original?

That depends on how you retexture them. If you just replace the base game files then it will retexture these as well. But if you use an .esp
or edited meshes to point the base game pack and carton meshes/textures to a new location then they would need a patch.

Any chance of adding the animations where your toon lights a match and puts the cigarette in his mouth, and actually has a smoking idle? There's a really good one in Smokable Cigars, Cigarettes, and Joints (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13431) -- so good it almost makes me want to take up smoking.

Sorry, but I like these to just be a simple consumable with a visual indicator.

is base object swapper required even on old versions? i went to download the 2018 edition and still was prompted to download base object swapper.

I dont want to have to download 3 other mods and some windows c++ library just to have my good ol smokes like i had in my previous playthroughs

No, the old versions don't require it. Nexus shows the "required files" pop up regardless of what you download.
