About this mod

Does it irritate you that you are gluing metal to plastic? Do you refuse to buy into the whole "duct tape can fix anything" shtick that Sturges spouts all the time? Ever wonder why you have to use Adhesive at all if the recipe already has screws? Question no longer, my friends! Requires the big three DLC.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Realistic Adhesive Deluxe

Because Immersion!

Requires Automatron, Far Harbor, and Nuka-World

I really, really don't like adhesive.  I think it's a ridiculous mechanic.  It's almost comical in its non-realism, and is a gimmicky way to increase your hours in game.  Metal should be welded, plastic should be glued, cloth should be sewn.

This mod introduces five new components to compliment the basic 'Adhesive' (which I have renamed, simply, 'Glue'): Flux, Solder, Tape, Thread, and Wire.

Steel and Aluminum are welded, mods that use them require Flux.  Flux is very easy to get, you'll find it in Abraxo Cleaner.  You can also make your own at the Chem Station if you have Blacksmith 1.  You usually don't need a lot of Flux, but you will need the equivalent amount of Oil.

Plastic, Fiberglas, Rubber, and any other miscellaneous Components still use Glue (Vanilla Adhesive).  Glue can be obtained from, of course, Wonderglue.

Circuitry, Copper (when not used as wire, such as in Pipe Guns), and Lead use Solder.  Like Flux, it can be made at the Chem Station under "Adhesives."  Also, all of my new Components can be also purchased as shipments from junk dealers.

Aesthetically correct mods use Wire and Tape.  For example, razor blades or barbed wire on melee weapons use Wire and no other adhesive, unless they use a lot of Steel, in which case you will need Flux.  Also, electronic weapons and mods that use Gold or Copper (except Pipe Weapons) now use Wire.  Crafting Wire requires Blacksmith 1 and can be made from Steel, Copper, or Aluminum.

Anything Leather, Cloth, or Ballistic Fiber uses Thread.

Thread and Wire can be recovered when scrapping items that use them.  Flux, Solder, and Glue cannot.  Wire can be found in anything electrical such as lamps and telephones.  Glue is still widely available, of course, and as I said above, Flux is contained in Abraxo.  Solder is the only component that I could not find a suitable source for in the Vanilla junk items, so it must be crafted or purchased.

Regarding Wonderglue and Duct Tape already in the world, I have not touched them, beyond changing the name of the base-game Adhesive and making my Tape the component of all duct tape varieties (Military Duct Tape still provides Ballistic Fiber).  I justify this, lore-wise, with how little they are actually needed for this mod.  My Adhesives have been added to various loot lists (via script) so that there will be plenty of Thread and Wire to be found in the world.  Additionally, like Wire in electrical appliances, Thread can be found in lore-friendly ways in other Junk.

A final word on Screws, as promised in the short description: If a mod requires Screws, an already hard-to-find Component, the requirements for the other Adhesives in this mod are reduced.

Included in the zip file is a FO4Edit script to adapt other plugins to use my new system.  To work properly, however, some things have to be changed.  In the "const" section of the script are my new components, laid out so that FO4Edit can read and use them.  If you load another plugin and it loads additional .esp or .esm files (such as Armorsmith Extended), you will have to change my script to reflect Realistic Adhesive's load order (in FO4Edit, not your game).  Simply find the Component section of my mod, look at the first two numbers of my components' FormID, and change them in the const section of the script appropriately.  Otherwise, the script works fine as long as Realistic Adhesive is loaded before the mod you want to change.
