I just saw this mod...might be useful if the constant rad ticking gets irritating...lol

"Something special to note is that I have made it so you will not take any damage in a settlement that you have activated. I think that settlements should be relaxing and stress free and I didn't want this mod to impact that aspect of gameplay." even though vanilla rad storms irradiate you in settlements granted its temporary but still

This is actually relatively realistic believe it or not, the amount of dust in the atmosphere in the Fallout universe (considering there's frequent dust storms) would cause Ozone depletion! Was looking for something to replicate this fact. and I'm happy it exists! Would be good if it had a script to detect bare skin though.

Yeah for sure but I have no scripting knowledge at all and have to rely on simple changes...hmm if I hadn't dropped out of college 20 years ago who knows what I could have made. hahaha

I love this concept. Thanks for making it. Really grateful for a mod which makes exploring the wasteland feel appropriately perilous. Adds a bit of that FROST vibe, right?

I'm wondering though: could it be implemented so that the radiation comes in a tick of 1 RADS per minute or three minutes (depending on version), rather than being a very low constant exposure effect? The constant geiger counter ticking is a bit annoying. (Either that or the geiger counter could be muted or made a lot quieter? Presumably there are different sound files for the different levels of exposure, so the very mild <1 exposure ticking could be made silent?)

Oh wait... I'm still getting the hang of playing with this mod and it does seem like maybe it already does what I suggested. So if this was an example of me being dumb, please ignore. :)

I think a constant drop in rads is all i would know how to do, i dunno im sure there are other ways.

Hmm i guess the sound of rads would be irritating lol, i dunno, i guess its just how it works ahaha...

I sort of made this for fun when i was testing magic effects and armors and stuff a while ago...i never really thought about the little details with it too much lol

I wonder if a simpler version would be nice... like, maybe when its mid afternoon and the sun is at its peak you could get rads? From like 12-2 or something? I dunno, just randomly thinking lol

Hm. Weirdly, the radiation exposure just seems to stop for me after about 5 minutes?

Oh thats weird...i set it up to stop if its cloudy, or raining or night...i dunno how exact all those effects are.

Okay, playing so far I've found full sunlight to be quite rare. As such, the radiation effect from this mod doesn't actually come into effect very often.

Do you think it'd be possible to add an even milder radiation exposure effect to cloudy weather conditions, etc.? Or failing that, a version of the mod that just applies mild rad exposure in all weather conditions.

Hi brother ,amazing as always <3 i just want to suggest something if you want ,currently I'm under a shitload of IRL stuff cant work on anything ,i just want to know if you could make a mod that makes you dizzy or blinded with coughing and blurriness around radiated places until you put on a mask this would make radiations so much interesting and actually gives gas masks a purpose , i really hope you could pull this off because its huge , anyway sorry for the long writing and thank you for everything you're doing for us .

Yeah that would be pretty cool, but I don't really have a ton of ability to make anything too complicated..I'm just a regular guy who doesn't know how to script, I know nothing about computers in general...I just sort of stumbled into this stuff a few months ago, and making anything too complicated is just really out of my skillset!

But thanks for the words of encouragement, it really motivates me to hear someone likes something I make!

You mean like Gas Masks of the Wasteland? lol It's not quite the same, except for the gas mask portion. The radiation doesnt quite work the same Happy to see some more mods take a stab at a similar concept.

Yeah but everybody is wearing masks all the time is kind of shitty ,you should wear them only in radiated places this would be so much fun with the animations of Gasmaks of the Wasteland and stuff , god i really hope someone does it

Yeah D1v1ne122, i figure why not try a simple approach! I dont care if this gets less than a hundred downloads, if a few people download it im happy. Im definately not trying to compete with the big contenders out there, and its good to have a nice lightweight option that anyone can use regardless of load order.

By the way, there is a way to make this work in a way such that fake interiors are taken into account. I've had aspirations to make that an option in my mod which I will probably do at some point cause I already have the code written, (and I use it for the rain effect at the moment) but it essentially uses the same method that bethesda uses for culling weather effects while you are under cover. Its not 100% but pretty darn close.

@Kim, depending on the radiation setting you use, you and NPC's only need to wear them when the weather is radioactive, but as you say, you dont necessarily have to wear them in radioactive zones, but it doesn't make sense to do so because nearly every gas mask provides rad-resist.

Ah cool man! I wish i had the ability to create something like that, your much more talented than me. (Which is obviously because your mod is a million times more advanced than this puny little thing...Hahahaha...)

This is a brilliant idea, and if I didn't play in baby-ass baby mode I'd turn it on and leave it on permanently. (I'm downloading it regardless, but still.) If you're interested, I can think of two possible additions: One, a craftable sunscreen lotion that abates if not heals the damage; and second, a link to an appropriately sunburned skin, particularly for folks who've modded their bodies to something other than vanilla. There's no way Atomic Beauty is getting away with showing that much cleavage without turning a bit red. ^_^

I'd suggest something that turns folks red over time, but I can't imaging the scripting that would have to go into that.

Sunscreen is a cool idea, id love to do something like that. Except environmental radiation damage is all the same, and i wouldnt want to bother going through the trouble separating sun radiation damage from everything else. (Otherwise the sunscreen would prevent damage from radioactive barrels).
I sort of just like an excuse to use more rad resistance gear. I like having combat gear and exploration gear. Its nice to gear up for a battle and then gear up again after your done for some rad protection.
Plus, i made this a while ago when i was learning things and sort of forgot about it...i really wouldnt want to put too much effort into it. Lightweight mods are great, i love simple ideas that have zero chance of breaking your game, its nice to have that peace of mind when installing a mod!

Cool idea though i don't think it can really be called "immersive." For this to be possible in the fallout universe, the great war would have had to either completely destroy or at least severely damage/weaken the Earth's magnetic field (which i doubt the total yield and number of atomic weapons used in the war had the ability to do so), although i could be completely incorrect.

Oh i dunno, i know nothing about that kind of stuff, it just sounded.. remotely.. possible. Hahaa..your probably right.

I guess i can change it to gameplay effects/changes.

I figured the reasoning would be that the bombs somehow completely destroyed the ozone layer and you're slowly getting the worst sunburn ever
