This replaces the default video on the main menu screen with a scene from the Diamond City Market shot in 21:9 aspect ratio (2560x1080). The soundtrack is just the in-game ambient audio. There are very few choices for alternate main menu backdrops for the ultrawide crowd, so I decided to try my hand at making one! I got the idea for this mod from Alternative Glowing Sea Main Menu Background 3440x 1440 by DeadlyPhoenyx.

How to install:

Either use NMM or can manually install by placing the MainMenuLoop.bk2 file in /Data/Video folder of your main Fallout 4 game directory and mus_maintheme.wav in /Data/Music/Special folder. Please back up and remove/deactivate the original files to avoid conflicts.

Mods I normally use that may or may not have influenced the look of this video:

PRC - PhotoRealistic Commonwealth - PRC Patch for Enbs by L00 (Enabled the VHS dirty heads filter/cranked up the grain and vignette setting to give it a more retro & worn look)
TruBy9 Ultrawide - Fallout 4 by ZaliaS
FlaconOil's HD ReTexture Project in 4k & 2k - Made from Scratch - Performance Pack by FlaconOil
Enhanced Lights and FX by Anamorfus
ENB Lights Overhaul by MaxG3D
Extreme Particles Overhaul 3.0 by MaxG3D
True Storms -Wasteland Edition by fadingsignal (weather set to rain, admittedly, to avoid the hassle of moving shadows in case of looping video)

Production notes:

I was only able to disable to disable a limited amount of NPCs (open console, click on NPC to reveal their code[PP], then type in "disable" command). To clean up the scene, I killed the rest outside of the market area, except Takahashi (because who else would serve the noodles?), and returned after 24 hours.

Video and sound recorded with AMD Radeon ReLive using AVC codec (HEVC codec does not play nice with downstream tools!) and sans any additional overlays.

Video trimmed with Windows Photos App (because I'm lazy).

Video converted to bink format with RAD Video Tools (had to install Quicktime for some reason for it to be able to play nice with the video)

Audio extracted from bink file with RAD Video Tools and used as is in wav format.

Final words:

This was a very low budget, low effort mod. That being said, it breaks up the monotony of the same main menu background for the last 2-3 years. If you are interested in other alternate backdrops and don't wish to make it yourself, let me know what scenes you would like to see! If enough people are interested in the same concept, I can work on it in my spare time.

Also, did you catch my not-so-subliminal messaging? :P
