I don't play fo4 anymore. I haven't since around fo76's release. Why? Because I hate how AWKCR has changed to be more than what it says on the tin. I want no part of their color swaps crap and couldn't figure out how to get rid of them (even going back to the older versions didn't work). So I quit playing fo4 all together because I put too much time and effort into having my game work the way I wanted, and it was no longer possible for me to have my game the way I wanted it. All of my mods are presented as-is, and I don't care what anyone has to say about them.


In game you can see that the hazmat suit gives 1000 rad resistance. What you can't see is that it also gives rad reduction of 98% and poison reduction of 100%. So it renders you immune to poison and takes 2% of the rad damage you're taking then applies 1000 resistance to it. The end result is equivalent to over 1,000,000 rad resistance (this is why you always see <1RADS and never anything higher in a hazmat suit).

While this is what bethesda intended, I decided I wanted to make things harder on myself. What can I say, I miss FROST a little sometimes.

Anyway, the way this hidden stuff works is the suit has an enchantment (HazmatRadReduction "Hazmat Suit") that uses a magic effect (HazmatSuitPerkEffect "Hazmat Suit") that uses a perk (HazmatSuitRadResistancePerk "Hazmat Suit Rad Resistance") and I messed with these a little to make a few options, since everyone has their own opinion about what is balanced or immersive or whatever. In the fomod installer, choose from:
  • Double 0 - Removes the magic effect from the enchantment so that the hazmat suit only does what it says on the tin in vanilla fo4 (1000 rad resist), without causing conflict with armor mods (such as armorsmith). This also removes another hidden hazmat suit bonus: HalluciGen poison gas immunity. Instead the suit grants no resistance or reduction to gas damage.
  • 0% rads 25% poison - Edits the hazmat perk to not touch the RADs while reducing HalluciGen poison gas damage by 25%. 
  • 25% rads 50% poison - Changes the RADs reduction to 25% (so 75% gets through to the 1000 rad resistance). HalluciGen poison gas reduced by 50%.
  • 50% rads 75% poison - Half and half RADs. HalluciGen poison gas reduced by 75%.
  • 75% rads 90% poison - Reduces the RADs by 75%. HalluciGen poison gas reduced by 90%.
  • 100% rads 100% poison - Hazmat suit makes the wearer immune to both rad and HalluciGen poison gas damage. So actually this makes the suit more helpful, but whatever. I'm not changing the name of the mod. 

This doesn't effect the damaged hazmat suit, as it doesn't use this enchantment-magic-effect-perk-russian-doll thing. If there's another combo of rad and HalluciGen poison gas reduction you'd like to see the hazmat suit have, please let me know :)
