I realize this mod hasn't been touched in quite a while, but I just stumbled into it after reinstalling Fallout 4 recently. Would it be possible to add a form of "Thermite Flare"? Possibly an incendiary slug that deals Energy and Fire damage types with the burning crit/death effects?
I realize there are other mods that add a similar effect to the base flare gun, but they also aren't mods that offer shotgun receivers and they also try to call the minutemen every time they're shot.
Can you make this compatible with the Pocket Rocket & Flare Gun Paint Mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12808/?Fallout+4:+Equestrian+Adventures+)? His adds a unique flare gun as well as a paint category. But I tried with your mod along side it and your receiver category overrides his paint one. :(
The answer is basically no, since they both modify/replace the default flare gun item. Says so in the tags (well, says so in my tags).
What I could do (theoretically) is create a standalone version of Receivers 2.0 so that it wouldn't conflict with another mod that replaces or makes changes to the default flare gun, but that would be worse than useless to what I'm guessing are most users (you'd have to add it through the console, because it's no longer the same item that Preston gives you, I'm not adding a separate spawn somewhere, etc. etc.).
IF at some point I get around to doing a standalone, just for you, I'll post it here as an optional file or something, but I don't want to fib and say this is a priority for me. Thanks for giving my mod a shot!
Major changes include reworking the shotgun receiver to be more accurate, increasing the base damage by 10, and swapping the shotgun tag with the pistol tag so that it scales with the Gunslinger Perk. Currently, there are no changes to the default flare and artillery smoke receivers, because those seem to work just fine. Why fix what ain't broken, right?
I originally made these changes for my personal use only, but a good friend of mine suggested that I get permission to post my changes on the Nexus and here we are.
