BOS ranked suits have now been added, if you want to RP or whatever. Initiate, Knight, Paladin and Elder. Basically just different stripes and logos on one arm. All are in the optional file section.

I've been trying to set up a fomod DL for this, but I'm too damn old and computer stupid to get it to work. If anyone has any tips or tricks, or is willing to do it, I'd be eternally grateful.

This is more of cheat then anything else. Really belongs in the cheat folder. You are suppose to start off with crappy armor.

You could always start with an empty frame, you know... with no "crappy" armour at all. The best option, by the way. It makes the beginning reasonably hard without breaking the quest objectives (unlike total removal of the PA suit for example).
And by the way, with an empty PA frame even on normal the Concord Deathclaw can kill you in 2 strikes... Minigun damage increase mods are highly recommended.

The empty frame is the only non-game breaking choice and is what Bethesda should've done - but also replace the deathclaw with a super mutant (and maybe reduce the amount of minigun ammo). I can't believe that no mod has made such a fix  - they all only tweak the PA. Wish I knew how to make such a mod myself.

@Streetyson: a couple of years late, but I agree honestly, the two options I've found on Nexus that I consider reasonable replacements are this mod with its 'naked frame' version (which also comes without the fusion core installed so you get to put the fusion core you find in the basement of the Museum), or the mod Broken T-45 on Concord Museum Rooftop.

Concord Power Armor Replacement was the one I tried first, but I ended up switching to the 'Broken' mod because I think it accomplishes mostly the same (after the power armor is damaged it's permanently damaged, so you are left with a frame and you have no other use for the PA parts other than to scrap them), but it also makes Sturges dialogue make sense since he specifically mentions a 'T-45 on the roof'. I would say the Broken T-45 mod does pretty much the same as the 'naked frame' version of this one, just in a bit more lore-friendly way.

The minigun I think it's sort of scripted the amount of ammo you get (I tried lowering the amount of ammo it gives you but it didn't change for some reason).

As for the Deathclaw changing into a Super Mutant... maybe I can figure something out for that (WIP).

Edit 1: done -> Concord - Supermutant Boss Instead of Deathclaw
Edit 2: I made this for the minigun -> Concord - Broken Minigun on Rooftop
  4. Don't know why it wasn't T-60 to begin with. In the lore T-60 was worn during the riots and collapse of the United States after the bombs by Police and Military trying to keep order. We even see this during the opening there are T-60 troops guarding the vault.

Awesome mod, although I'm using it in the opposite way it was originally intended. I went with the naked frame option for 2 reasons: 1) I love the change from Some Assembly Required of reducing the potency of the power armor you find in Concord without breaking the quest, but I didn't want all the other changes SAR brings to power armor. 2) I personally find it hilarious to think that Sturges scouted out the roof, saw that "cherry T-45 power armor," and then found that it was completely stripped bare by the time the Sole Survivor got to it. So thanks for this on both those counts.

Sweet as hell mod man ^^ It's gonna be soooo refreshing heading to diamond city on new playthroughs on something other than the T-45! I don't tend to use PA much so I'm gonna enjoy my next new pt with the harbinger of death- The X-01! :D now I"m sure I'll be able to scare Wolfgang sh*tless xD hahaha. Imagine the faces of the raiders in concord once I jump down on my X-01 @_@.

My next question on this would be how did you manage to walk all the way to DC on a 50% fusion core? Unless you used mods. idk.

Good question :> I use loot overhaul and last time the museum one had just 25% rofl xD. What I do is I keep loading a save before choosing the buy option from trudy at the dinner until a fusion core shows up lol. It can take a veeeeery long time~ leaving my PA on the side of the road is not an option :3. I play the worried parent role so I hurry to diamond city for answers and don't unlock any workshops so I kinda have to leave it at the PA station in diamond city.

Funny part is... This whole mod came about because I wanted to use this...

but I didn't want to wait til I found a full T60 set. If I'm in a Police suit, I feel less guilty about busting down doors and looting people's cupboards.

      Howlermonkee,

"...I'm in a Police suit, I feel less guilty about busting down doors and looting people's cupboards."

Don't worry, I bet the cops never feel/felt guilty very much at all. That reminds me more of one of those parties, 'those' kinds of a parties, when somebody's wearing police suits... Erm... They'll 'arrest' all those bad boys and naughty girls!

I would love to see the military paint on this!

I guess it could've worn away or something, what with taking a nuclear blast and everything... Hmm...

I've come to the point where I don't care much about lore - it's single player game after all And I absolutely love having my character running around in an Atom Cats T-60 with Heather in a Hot Rod T-45 in tow

I am the same. "Lore" gets broken between each game. What really matters is if the overall feel of the game fits into the Fallout atmosphere. And whether or not it's fun.

have you thought about doing this for any of the well made modded power-armors? is that something someone could easily do by editing one of these?

I know this response is several months late, but I just recently started to play this game again. I have thought about splicing in Mod PA's, but most of the authors of those mods have them in a specific spot, for a specific reason. I don't want to trample on their established lore or whatever. If a situation arises where they are ok with it, and I can figure out how to do it, I will.

    "Lore Friendly? Sure, why not."

Why not? Because the X-01 is obviously the Advanced Power Armor from Fallout 2, which was canonically developed and manufactured by the Enclave on its oil rig after the Great War. Even Bethesda's placement of the unique variant of it in Nuka-World can be safely chalked up to laziness and/or ignorance on the part of the designers in the absence of anything even attempting to resemble an explanation for its presence.

OR it could be the predecessor to the Advanced power armor which was designed off it.

The thing about fallout lore is most of it is still oral or prone to errors, as the information is subject to inaccuracies after a couple hundred years of retelling and regional knowledge. As is the fact a lot of the information was lost when the oil rig blew up, so a lot of the actual information was lost rather than the conjecture by outsiders.

Kinda like how Jet could easily have been something Myron reverse engineered or discovered the formula for. Nobody would know he didn't invent it, just that he claimed to have.

Canonically? Bethesda story lines seldom hold watermelons, let alone water. And I blew that rig away if fo3.

I dunno guys, I just happened to stroll into a town and there was a bunch of dickheads, trying to kill a bunch of people and/or one crazy cracked-out old chick. But somehow, after 200 frickin years, there was a complete set of power armor on the roof. The fact that it is even still there, and this includes all of the ones on the map, is totally wrecking any type of realism. I understand RP and all that, so please, just play the game how you want to, and let others do the same.

Thank you for this mod, it was just what i was looking for. As for the lore friendly aspect, we can see in the intro that the U.S. Army supplies their soldiers with t-60, as we can see from the two minigun wielding soldiers in front of the vault. It's also easier to believe that Sturges was mistaken since the two armors are very similar aesthetically.
