The flat version of Fallout 4 and the VR version are different executables. This is going to do nothing but screw up your VR installation.

Many mods require external addons like F4SE which depend on specific executable versions. DLCs are also executable dependent. You cannot mix and match many mods and the DLCs, ever. You are just asking for CTDs.

You need to treat these versions as separate games (hint hint Nexus). Mod makers that make utilities that attach to the executable, then they should support both, or publish the source code so a fork can be made to work on the VR version. UI enhancements and scripting enhancements are these such utilities.

Looks like this doesn't combine the executables so much as the installations themselves, which makes a lot of sense considering the games are essentially the same asset-wise and that's the bulk of the data. Just have two profiles, one for VR and one for pancake, and you can have all your mods in the same place without much hassle too. Really, you should look into these things before dismissing them, reading the documentation makes it clear what it does and it obviously works to some degree.

so, does this mean, i can use fallout 4 mods, that dont work in vr, and through this, have them working in vr, since as i read it, it doesnt work with the script extender, which is the bases of many mods?

I keep getting an error that says could not find path c:\programs files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\fallout 4 VR\data\VR unifier\FO4VR for the VR version
    and
    could not find path c:\programs files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\fallout 4 VR\data\VR unifier\FO4
    for regular one
not sure what file/path it is looking for. FO4VR or FO4 I don't have them anywhere do I need to rename something

For me, the Unifier was able to read both my paths in my d: folder once i edited the unifier ini document, and now it runs.... for exactly one second and then kicks me out of the application entirely. What would be causing this?

This is exactly what I've been looking for to get the Mod Configuration Menu to configure my VR mods! I'm running into some complications, though...

I'm getting an unhandled exception when running the application as an administrator. It's saying access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data' is denied. I copied the path directly from file explorer after hitting the error the first time, and am running as an administrator. Just in case there were other permission issues, I've completely opened up the Fallout 4 directory to have full control as any user.

It looks like the error's happening when the program attempts to rename fallout.esm, but I'm not positive. The line right before the stack trace is thrown is, "Save folder detected, renaming to C:\Propgram Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data_20210228053829...

    This is the stack trace:

Manually renamed the directory Data_20210228055017 and it seems to have resolved the issue. Never mind!

I followed the instructions as best as I could, and I was able to load a pancake save in VR yesterday. I played a while, and saved my progress.
I tried tonight to load the latest save game (pancake -> VR -> pancake) and noticed that while trying to use the pipboy, it shows very far from where it used to be in pancake and it's pretty much unreadable. I tried to zoom it in, but the amount possible is minimal. I also noticed that the way the camera shows the player hands while aiming "from the belt" is practically from the top of the shoulders and I can see both arms completely rendered, while before it was pretty much the hands and only the hands. I did disable all the VR mods as well as the FO4VR.esm from NMM, and loading the save game in pancake did report this in the list that appears on the warning that reads "some mods are not available, some items could be missing".
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks!

      Found it!
It seems VR changed the FOV values, and moving back to pancake didn't restore them.
      Here's what worked for me:
      https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=551069501&tscn=1447077828

      Basically:
      1. Open the pip-boy
      2. Open the console (needs a mod if you are in survival, which was my case)
      3. Type fov 90 (or you can play with other values, 80, 100, until you find something that feels right), hit enter
      4. refreshini, hit enter
      5. Profit.
      6. Check that it works by saving, exit to desktop, load again.

I haven't checked, though, how not to repeat this every time you load a VR save in pancake and back, but it seems that's the case.
      Thanks!

There are some mods that are intended for VR to fix some of the issues with getting the DLCs (for example) to work properly with it. What happens to those in the merged game?
