Introduction

The Ruger AC-556 was designed in 1978 by Sturm Ruger to be a combat-ready, military and police variant of their popular Mini-14 rifle. Outfitted with select-fire capability, the AC-556 was mainly used in law enforcement roles in the 1980s and 90s as an alternative to the M16. Its design, along with that of the Mini-14, were based on the 7.62 caliber M14 (hence the name), which was in turn based on the M1 Garand. The AC-556F and AC-556K variants were made with folding stocks, pistol grips, and short barrels, making them small, light, and maneuverable in high-intensity combat situations. The AC-556 gained a reputation as an effective, reliable rifle in service with police forces. In the post-apocalyptic wastelands, its reputation holds true in even the toughest of battles.

This is my first mod, so there may be a few bugs. I will happily resolve any issues that arise with the mod, take advice, criticism, or whatever. This was my personal project for awhile, to familiarize myself with the process of modeling, texturing, and animating. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Everything here was made by me, and is completely standalone. No DLC or other files are required.

Features

  • Custom Hi-Poly Mesh
  • Custom 2K Textures
  • Custom Animation
  • Custom Sound
  • 4 Receivers, 3 Magazine Sizes, 3 Stocks, 3 Sights, and 1 Suppressor.

Location

There are a total of 3 Ruger AC-556 rifles in the Commonwealth. As they would be almost 300 years old, and were never common to begin with, it wouldn't be very lore friendly to integrate them into leveled lists. Here's where they can be found:

  • The Museum of Freedom, leaning against the plaque in front of the war mural
  • Valentine Detective Agency, laying on a pile of bricks next to a desk
  • Dartmouth Professional Building, on a table

Or, if you're lazy, just type "player.additem xx000F9E 1" into the console. (xx is my mod's position in your load order.)

Installation

To install the mod, simply extract the folder labeled "Data" into your Fallout 4 main directory, and allow all folders to merge. Then, activate the .esp in your load order. Or, you could just use the Mod Manager.

Version 1.2 Update Changelog

Here's a list of changes in the 1.2 Update:

  • Added a polymer stock in two optional colors: beige or black
  • Fixed the issue with the first person reload animation not working in power armor
Known Issues

  • The normal maps are still a bit iffy. I will get around to fixing that at some point.

I hope you like the mod! TactaGhoul, out.
