These are planned updates. I have no ETA as I have very little time for modding these days. I've learned a lot about real-life MREs since this was released, and I want to update these to reflect that!
• Better-designed package/size to better reflect real MREs • BoS post-war MREs with unique textures available from the Quartermaster, Proctor Teagan on the Prydwen • CHILI MAC, the #1 most requested meal, as well as a few new others • Possible removal of MREs such as "Peanut Butter", which would normally be a packet WITHIN the MRE, not the MRE itself. • More scarce, right now they're showing up too frequently for as clean (rads) and nourishing as they are • More filling in survival (if that's possible) • I had an idea to make the MRE actually "open" into its sub-components when used, so you would get the main meal, coffee or tea, a dessert, and so-on, but that might be overkill. We'll see :) LET'S GET THIS OUT ONTO A TRAY. • Craftable ration container(s), which is a popular request
To all the men and women of the military out there around the world, thank you for your service!
FAQ (since nobody catches it in the description)
Q: "Can you make XYZ flavor?" A: I will definitely consider it! Especially if it's a flavor you personally have enjoyed as a serviceman. I have tremendous respect for soldiers and like to add things that remind them of the more pleasant (or perhaps gross?) memories of their service.
Q: "Can you add/change/remove this buff, alter this value, lower the amount of x, make them more common, less, common, et al" A: Unfortunately, if I honored every request, there would be 200 files. This is a REALLY simple mod, FO4Edit will let you change whatever you want with ease.
Q: "Can you make a patch for X?" A: I don't use any of the sorting mods, or other mods that alter the way food works, and my time for modding is REALLY thin lately due to IRL circumstances. If anyone wants to make a patch, they are free to upload it, or send it to me and I'll host it here with credits to you!
Q: " Does this use scripts?" A: The base game uses millions of scripts at every turn, but let's not get into that. The LL-Inject version uses a script fragment that runs once on game load, and never again.
Q: "MREs are not lore friendly!!1!" A: Damn, yeah, you're right. In a world of pulse rifles, Power Armor, VTOL aircraft, FEV, packaged food is a huge leap of the imagination, especially for the year 2077! /s You probably mean it's not "style-friendly" because it doesn't strictly look like it's from 1950, but that's OK, a vast majority of things from Fallout 1, 2, 3, and New Vegas didn't either
Absolutely fantastic. Works nicely for a BOS/Enclave playthrough alongside the purified water canisters and it's also a nice throwback to my time in the Army. Endorsed!
When I was in the veggie omelet was the worse one. usually that poor soul starve to death before attempt to eat the green paste. The best one was probably the tuna. because he had real tuna pouches, tortillas and mayo like the same way you get it from as store. Both of which would bring fond memories.
A Fun feature for this would be after eating them if a sound of disgust or of enjoyment played depending on flavor. That would bring bake some memories. Either way, Its a interesting memory invoking mod.
We have mushrooms that have lived of rmillions of eyars in real life, So ghouls living 200 years is nothing, Infact we know how they live so long, Since their cells divide slower then regular human cells do due to radiation damage, Which is th eopposite of what happens to people who survive nukes in real life, Due to a genetic mutation that they have initatively, As confirmed by both Van buren and Fallout 76 which confirm that there is a ghoul gene, As there was a ghoul that was pre-war in vault 79 iirc
