About this mod

Main file adds robot expert requirement to building almost all robot parts. Optional file adds robot parts to many vanilla robots.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Both files require Automatron DLC

Automatron Robot Expert

All robot parts require at least one level of Robotics Expert to create from scratch at the robot workstation. Quest related parts, voices and paint colors were left untouched. You should still be able to do the DLC quest line without any perk requirements and even make new robots or modify existing robots with salvaged parts. Requirements for building the robot workstation and base robot are untouched (as well as material requirements for recipes). Recipes that already had a level of Robotics Expert had that level raised one rank. I also replaced some perk requirements when there were already to perks listed (for example if a part required science and armorer, it would be robotics and armorer).

Creating robobrains from scratch now requires robotics expert 3 and science 4 since they were the peak of pre war tech. The lore of the game goes into considerable detail explaining just how difficult they are to make.

This is just a small tweak to bring the game a little closer to a role play experience. If you like this idea, check out my other mods. This was made as a workaround solution to fit with my Settlement Progression mod. Simply adding perk requirements to building the robot workstation would break the quest for many character builds. If you aren't playing a high intelligence character you can still smash robot parts together but you will not be able to build as powerful or large a robot army as a mad scientist can.

This was a real pain to make as I had to add the perk condition to almost all of the robot part recipes. I hope some people like it.

Vanilla Robots Drop Robot Parts

This adds a chance for base robot parts to spawn on vanilla robots (Assaultron, Sentry, Handy, Gutsy, Protectron) as well as robobrains (from Automatron DLC only). They have a very low chance of dropping standard head, legs arms and torsos of that robot type. There's a 3% chance per part (max 3 parts per robot). It feels balanced but has not been extensively tested. I chose to not include hands/weapons so you will just have to loot those from Automatron DLC robots. I think there are a few variations of this kind of mod out there, but it was easy to make and fits my idea of balance.

I had to change the template robobrain actor so that they would all spawn robobrain parts (I just changed the leveled list spawned on death) so this has a very low chance of conflicting with mods that alter robobrains.
