To make an issue help request you must have followed accurately all the suggestions section in description.
Explain the issue, as much accurate as you can.
Link an image or a video if it's a graphic/visual/performance issue
Link your load order and your main pc specs using the text type below and replacing the ( ) with [ ]
(spoiler) Your load order (/spoiler)
Do the same for your pc specs.
ATTENTION:
Of course in the load order i don't wanna see any plugin that is not on the list, because i can't replicate the issue if it comes from a mod you added on your own.
To better avoid issues, do the mod list as is, test if it all works, then ask me all the mods you wanna add and i'll tell you if they are compatible, if they are not, how to fix issues with it, where to put it in load order, if there's a mod that is better than it and do the same things and such.
Don't do things on your own if you are not sure about what you doing or what you installing and if you are not experts of conflicts between mods.
Everyone should still refer to the .ba2 file archiver for better start up and less final installation size.
I do oppose myself at the misinformed and mod to avoid label, but i don't know where the author comes from so it might be a misuse of language there and i already accept the mistake.
For sure it is outdated, can't say it the opposite.
Again, i keep it only for transparency and history record, it was the best point of modding up until the end, of course do refer to up-to-date guides.
My first experiences with modding began many years ago with your guide (and Nexus Mod Manager), dear biraitbec. Even so this guide is way too old (and not updated since 2019), it gives useful explanation how to install mods properly. I could say that this guide is the 'Grandfather' of modding!
I take advantages frm almost all guides (MOFAM, Way to the Lost, The Midnight Ride, Jewel of the Commonwealth (website is gone), Thuggyfied, STEP Fallout 4 Guide, Fallout 4 Beautification Project). Beautification guide uses still NMM! I use Mod Organizer 2.
Thanks, of course i worked on many famous skyrim LE and spetima mod list for SE and i know a thing or two about community and honor. That always pays off, your warming compliments and testimony aswell it's extremely inspiring.
I don't know what is TMR or MOFAM acronims.
Nobody says to tell people to use this mod, absolutely. What i have been informed is about saying that i misinform people just because the mod list or mod information got old. That's not respectful to say it, because time never makes misinformed, outdated for sure.
If i was to update it say today, and give unproper management, unproper load ording of certain mods, i would be fine be called a misinformer absolutely.
Hi there :) I'm running a RTX 3070 graphics card, but I'm attempting to upgrade to the RTX 4070 Ti Super this year But, do I need to download three of the main repacks and the quality addon and overhaul or just 3 of the main??
The content of ech repack is included in the credits at the bottom.
They are not equivalent files at different resolution per se, even if many overlap.
The idea is to have the performance pack installed first if you want to have optimized textures as a base. Then the main pack is better than vanilla and what i consider a must to have installed anyhow. The quality one is for those with high vram gpus, it is optional, and doesn't cover as many textures as those in the performance and main repack.
You can install all packs in that order, or even just the performance one if you want only optimized textures or only main pack and quality addon for best quality textures.
Yeah it also depends on what resolution you play at.
Back in the day when i had a 980 at 4gb and 1080p resolution, i managed to have the main pack and quality addon just greatly.
I don't know how the engine works at 4k resolution which is now very common but i suspect with 12 gb you can handle the main pack and quality addon just fine.
Let me know if you are getting back into the swing, sir! I am currently rework an update for NextGen, Downgraded. There are just some F4SE plugins many likes to use that has not or may not update to 1.10.984 (NG). Using the Fallout 4 Simple Downgrader will allow you to keep the NextGen Creation Club Content.. and require we continue using 1.10.163 F4SE dependent mods. Many things have and are updating to the newer version, of course.
But to see you get back in the game would be very nice, indeed. If you plan to continue your work, I can easily rename my work. My more modern build only shares a good fraction of the OG Content and could be something of my own. This is assuming I still have your blessings to carry on while have used your work as a base.
If anything, we helped keep the Community going. They have patiently waited on me to provide more details, changes, updates as I do not have a Team working on it. As you asked: I do thorough testing and folks runs into issues that is hard to foresee.
Heck! I can even ping the BRB fans on our server that you're back in the game and to visit your Discord for more info even.
I want, in no way, for you to feel anything was taken away from you. I was merely trying to "Pass It Forward". Your server, Team, and Community was there for me in need. All I have done since is try helping your work. I can even share much newer details with you to aid your decisions how to move forward (if needed).
Feel free to DM me on Discord, Poke back into the server.. Or since we moved it to my server, I can put you back on top with Staff and collaborate moving forward. I really do not know your vision at this time.
Oh no no man, i don't have any plans to get back into the modding scene. I barely mod games anymore personally, am 90% on retrogaming since years now and often check new modern releases which i don't find in need of modding, more so in need of time for devs to patch their games if ever.
Feel free to do everything you like how much derivative it can be, i trust your works so it's okay. The only thing i wouldn't want you to take from here is the repacks, as they have an extensive individual agreement with the original authors which you can find in the credits and you would require to have the same agreement aswell. The rest is all free to take.
I never felt something was taken away unjustly from you so no worries at all mate.
Almost 2025 and still using this guide every single time I start modding my new FO4 installation. The bethini settings are mandatory no matter what. I hope you are doing well man.
Unluckly it's very sad to keep this page active knowing that it might not work or reflect current modding scene, i only keep it for historical purposes but it's a real shame.
Very happy you still can find various sections still worth a guidance to relate to in your custom library.
It's nice to see you around the Nexus, bud! I am very slowly working on, modifying, etc with the guide work. However, using new mods, it kind of has completely changed. I believe you may have seen the kind of changes being made. How would you prefer I extend your guide? Verbatim with updated files? Or shall I carry on a modified version of it?
I apologize if you feel anything has been taken from you. That surely has never been my intention.
Merry Christmas to you! I hope the New Year serves you well!
Hi, thanks for the reply man. Don't worry at all, i'm an experienced modder and i have my own BiRaitBec's modified guide, it's just that every now and then i end up losing it between hundred of folders in the cloud and end up here rebuilding it from the ground up again. That's why whenever i'm passing through i just leave a message to Bi, so he knows how much i still appreciate his work. Merry christmas to you as well, and have a wonderful new year's eve!!
Hey i wish you all a great holiday period aswell, thank you!
I'm not aware of any change or project cyber, so for me there's no worry, as i wrote in the other message, the repacks include permissions from authors, the rest is all free to take for real, i'm not worry of any stealing.
I only keep this page up for historical reason, but if you can extend the project, replace it, make a better one or so, for me is totally great, especially coming from you who have been in contact with the way i work.
I'm really happy to have some kind of news about you BRB. I tried on discord but you disappeard, in fact you told me you will eventually. This guide is a museum and I mean it in a good way. So many memories, so many time spent with you asking and exchanging. I wish I could turn back time and revive this time we share with this guide. Anyway, I stopped playing Fallout 2 years ago but I decided to start again after coming to this page. Guess which guide I will follow? Cyber is doing an amazing job with the Revisited one but it's still not finished. I also exchanged a lot with him sometime ago and have to say he's a great dude. Always available and very cool. For sure I will install again FO4 with "his" guide but for now I'm back to the roots and happy about it. Thx for all this amazing work you've done with this guide and if you ever want to chat again you know where to find me. Un abbraccio forte.
Ahw thank you man, i actually remember you username. I still receive to this day a lot of comments of appreciation in the way i designed the mod page, from text fonts, to colors for all colorblinded types, to organization and to the amount of help given everyday.
About the discord, i don't know what happened, as it was years I stopped using it and in logging again i never had it available anymore.
Cyber has been always interested in testing various mods and creating his own upgrade to this which instead aimed to be extremely safe and essential with the least amount of issues possible that mods inevitably create the more they are. I can vouch on the personality back in the day that surely seems appropriate to helping people and for this type of projects, i altough never tested his mod list so i can't say that, but if he's helpful you can get it working just fine.
Yeah i only keep this page up because i constantly receive appreciation of it as a whole, working or not, even if it is a daily pain to know it's no more updated and because as you say it was even a better period overall. Nowadays mods are given automatically which work really bad as i could test, and they are extremely annoying to iron out from eventual issues. Modding in general is something i'm no more that happy to deal with, badly optimized games nowadays will receive patches due to backlash, textures optimizations are a bit less useful now with more vram capable cards and dlss scaling resolution down properly to reduce also vram usage. SSDs are a thing now compared to when i started the mod page, so while always important to use the workbase to pack textures in the .ba2 files, it was much more useful on hdd.
I still am tuned on various modding project for games of the 2010s but nowadays it is not something i totally am tuned on overall.
Next gen update or whatever uses a new BA2 archive format. For Step 1: Textures Optimization to work you need to download the updated creation kit and overwrite the files for Archive2 in the WorkBase folder. Otherwise it will only build ba2 files for the DLCs.
At this point would be better to just revert the update, seen there are mods for it extremely downloaded, might be the most efficient way to handle with mods at the moment.
It's crazy how they spent years bothering the community every week, and now even further with different texture format.
The script will unpack the original .ba2 files, then will overwrite the exact named files from the original folder with the files from the mod and then will pack it back.
So in the end, in the original .ba2 files you will have the modded files of the same name and same content inside, no more, no less.
This of course is not optimal with mods that add textures not as replacers of original files, for that we add them later after the step 1 in order to have a textures folder that is of small size instead of being 40gb because of many textures that could be integrated in the .ba2 files.
However as ProjectCZero said, i have no clue if they dared to change structure after the next gen update.
I think maybe he is referreing to certain files they integrated from my mod in their creation kit that should give similar result. However i actually never downloaded it so i wouldn't know of that.
This mod list is last updated in 2019 mate. Unless you use certain parts with some expertize in modding, it's hard to copy this and have it all working.
However, if you only made the step 2 mods, that of course is not going to work, as the mod page is structured in a way that many mods from later steps have hard requirements from previous ones, in a way that all ends up complementing eachothers nicely.
Some numbers or what version to download are now outdated, but if you follow the principle and download the latest, can still find all working. The textures part is independent of the game version, and will still work for instance, as many mods in the list, is mainly due to the script extenders or framework tools some mods rely on that need to match the game version to the latest.
I think something is wrong with the download link it wants to take several hours and eventually hangs and then my bandwidth outside this download normally greater than 100MB/s goes into hundreds of KB and I cant even refresh browser pages.
There has been a major traffic in fallout 4 modding scene, and loads of gbs have been downloaded.
Considering this is one of the most downloaded page in the modding scene as of this week, and considering the large amount of textures given for you to download, i can understand the site having problems to keep up.
These mods should download like any others in terms of speed, as it's their servers in any case.
If not, really try to wait a while, you can always add them at any moment to your game as they overwrite the original files, you can even add them once you started your game.
Very sorry for the inconvenience, i understand there's a bit of hype for the Fallout serie, and probably that is causing major server overflow. Hopefully gets resolved soon for you to enjoy.
