Funny enough, this could be useful now. If you're doing a Fallout 4-76 or some kind of other overhaul that doesn't require the main quest or eliminates the main quest but still want a dog. Would be cool if someone, other than that wandering dog seller, sells dogs so you could go get another after yours dies.
dog hater..? I mean why to change essential stat of the only dog companion in game..? Better delete this as already said that it's game corruption, no reason for your upload.
Just because a mod is gamebreaking,doesn't mean it should be removed,just don't use it if you want to finish the game so badly or install it after the main quest is completed.
How so, I've never recruited the dog and ignore his quest, is this only if you accept the dog by communicating. When I saw that you couldn't refuse and dismiss the dog, I immediately reloaded and ignored it instead.
I've just made the simplest ESP, where I simply removed it's essential flag, but haven't tried to kill the dog yet. I would be interested to know if it has some later effect om the game. Spoiler free, how would it handle never taking the dog as a companion. Maybe resetting the first dog quest as not done, would fix the issues you mentioned.
{Edit} I've just seen the spoiler post referring to Nick Valentine, I've picked up that questline but not persued it yet. Uhuru and Piper are having too much fun looting and crafting better gear to worry about missing sons and there's all them settlers to defend. My kill Dogmeat and see what happens plan, has a target now. If it suceeds I'll post the Plugin with any required additions, if it fails. I'll replay the quest with Dogmeat unrecruited and see what occurs then.
Thinking a little more about it, what's to stop anyone doing the quest, then killimg the dog, another quest?
He's the only one that can do that part of the MQ - the entire quest section is tailored specifically for Dogmeat, Nick mentions him by name and you need him to "track" someone during that part of the questline.

dogmeat is essential to the main quest progression, you can always just have him at sanctuary if you want a human follower, or go alone.
please remove this mod as it breaks the main quest.
