    Is it possible that this mod is causing settles to stop coming forever?

    I have noticed something... odd. The default settler for places like Oberland, or Tenpines can be assigned names via the darts, but in Far Harbor, the settlers that are sent if you do something like open up Dalton Farm via the quests don't seem to get assigned a name via the holotape manual naming option and using the darts turn them hostile. I haven't assigned them anything yet and am spending time away to see if they will get assigned a name that way.

    Might try the console commands later if they haven't yet. Probably going to complete Nick's quest in the Commonwealth and then come back to see what happens.

    Edit: I used a beacon at Longfellow's Cabin and the settlers who arrived did get assigned, so it seems to happen only with the quest-assigned settlers. The forum search function is gone so sorry if I missed something on page 9 or so that outlined this happening. I didn't scroll back that far.

    Edit2: Used console commands for one of them and it renamed him.

    Love the mod, use the mod, won't let go of the mod, endorsed the mod.
    I do have a question.
    Will it be compatible with https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22074?tab=posts&BH=9 , a mod that gives names on it's own, to the settlers spawned by the mod itself. It's a mod that spawns hookers and names them hooker...

    Works exactly as described. The only issue I've encountered so far in a couple of weeks of use is that Clem from Vault 88 gets a different name in the text, very minor.

    Didn't know how to use at first, accidentally used syringe on myself and now it always says Aaron above my subtitles, it also has given me a permanent medicine thing, how can I fix this? I tried using the showspecialmenu command but I still just see Aaron, is there a command to clear current medical effects?

      Reload a save from prior.

      IMO The mod should had never used a gun to begin with... 

      I only ever got one settler renamed via the darts. Not for the lack of many attempts. 

      1. The dart does not work half the time... and the instructions quite vague, 1. clicked manual name, created darts and the gun is special not a regular dart gun - do not mod it - longer barrel etc.. - or it never seems to work. 

      2. It's tedious to take the time to sneak up on a settler among any group of them - leave companions at home or else all hell breaks loose i.e. Cait killed everyone in Sanctuary and came down to a shootout between her and Preston, she had him down on the ground before I loaded a prior save ... So then even with full stealth perks at lvl 110 - max'd stealth build - you'll still  produce agro have the whole settlement looking around for you and have to sneak out until they all calm down, then have to go back to see that the name changed.

      3. killed two settlers by mysterious stranger appearing and finishing them off after shooting them with the darn dart.

      I do not know why the mod did not just use a token you'd give the settler? Heck, and it should check the current name being 'settler', 'farmer' or 'provisioner' or whatever before changing it, else there's a chance to hit someone with a name by having them walk in-front of the target at the time the shot is taken - even in vats if it shoots thru them.

      So, I gave up on the dart, I'll leave the settlers which did not take a name alone or maybe I'll decompile the script, see what it's doing and hit the ref id's of those it missed myself with it.

    Will this overwrite names for named settlers, for instance, the settlers that come with Recruitable Settlers?

      Yes.  To address this I use "https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22105".  With this I open console, click on the settler and type "setname" to revert them to their original name.

      Too bad there's no source code, it shouldn't be hard adding an exception to NPCs named anything other than "settler".

    this is a pretty cool mod. does anyone know of a mod that makes all settlers unprotected? ideally all of them including the named such as abernathy, but Especially the generic starters such as tenpines, nordhagen, the unamed worker handys and the slog workers. really the only settler that shouldn't be altered is sturges

    point is this mod would pair well with such a mod

      I believe "Better Settlers 2.0" by Thom293 has the option to disable settler protections. (and the requirements are optional, so you dont actually have to add anything extra.)

      there's no mod that makes named settlers mortal. the starter settlers protection status was directly tied to them trying to give me quests i disovered. mortal settlers is superior for what i want

    vortex doesn't recognise the optional file as different from the main file, it thinks it's a newer version. anybody got any ideas of how to fix this please

      If you mean the update file by optional, then vortex is working correctly. Install main file. Overwrite with update file.  Vortex will prompt with a are you sure you want to overwrite type message. Click confirm.

      You may want to just want to have a version that only uses the gun to give people names.  Could save on compatability issues.
