I know there haven't been many comments in a while but I just started using this on my latest play through, got it off Cricket at level 20 for 1000 caps, it does 380 ish damage right from the vendor before modding. So it does seem a bit overpowered for me but there seems to be a flaw that seems to mitigate its power. If you get anywhere near a wall, a sandbag, a barricade, etc the beam is blocked.
Think sniper play through, you sneak up to the edge of a cliff and try to snipe someone below, you get the perfect bead on them, and blamo! but they take no damage, so you decide to go VATS on their ass have a 95 percent shot take it, the camera angle flips around to show you shooting and wham the beam goes right into the cliff wall. Now I know this happens in the game with all weapons, and I have learned to compensate for this by peaking out farther than I normally would. And I have to say this has happened with this weapon in several different occasions, trying to fire through a doorway, nope, trying to fire over a barrel, nope.
Yes this mod is great and powerful, but you basically have to be in the open to fire it successfully. I am not a modder but this gun operates differently than every other sniper type I use. Just wanted to let you know.
Found a boosted, focused Watts rifle from Arturo in Diamond City at level 11, bought it for just over 1000 caps. Deals 200 damage and needs quite a nerf.
Edit: Managed to kill Swan at level 15 with this thing in under a magazine. I'd still say it's overpowered. If it's a late game weapon, I'd suggest capping it to higher level enemies and to increase the price of the weapon so it's not so easily obtainable at the start.
Further edit: I also believe level 11 is too early of a level to have such a beast of a weapon, it's making my early game stupidly easy as I'm one shotting most enemies.
A fully modded laser sniper rifle with the rifleman perk deals 180 damage. This thing deals 400 It surely needs a nerf, you shold bring the max damage to 250 or so
from what i understand lore wise the WATTZ beats the s#*! out of other laser rifles in terms of power and accuracy, its just that barely any survived after a certain point.
