Not defending Bethesda here, but I'm trying to see what They were trying to do with Strong.
Looking at Strong's Like to Dislike chart...
It is likely Bethesda tried to paint Strong as someone that seeks to see the inner strength of Humanity and what makes them able to stand above the Super Mutants, but despite being an outcast from his former Trinity Tower home, still is imprinted by that society for better or for worse.
Strong's directness, like his loving of smashing things and killing enemies as well as Cannibalism are direct things he carried on from his society, but he also admires being generous and peaceful, meaning he must have had enjoyed his bonds with some of his Super Mutant friends before Fist threw him in a cage for some sort of misdemeanor.
Strong dislikes not only being selfish and mean, but also using external power to make up for one's weakness, like using Power Armor or a Vertibird because he likely admires an individual's personal power. Doing things with their own hands and not needing something else to do the job for themself.
He also doesn't like theft or sweet-talking for higher cap grades likely because he sees such things as being related to being selfish or mean, his dislike of lockpicking likely either reminds him of being selfish or mean or he may not like taking the subtle route. Preferring to bash the door down and defeat the hostiles.
When you come across Trinity Tower. Fist states over the intercom that any Super Mutant who dies to a Human is weak and undeserving of life. That it makes them stronger because the stronger Mutants survive.
Strong likely says that Fist was a weak leader because of that selfishness and willingness to disregard his allies, since Strong likely loved his friends and thought that together, his society would prosper rather than throwing them to the grinder like Fist does.
Helping the B.O.S. for... Obvious reasons. Don't really know about Healing Dogmeat, though.
All in all, I while I think that Strong's dislike list NEEDED a knockdown, Bethesda tried to portray Strong as someone who values personal strength and someone who unites people to combine their personal strength to survive. To him, there's nothing that can't be defeated by the common people working in unison.
Dunno if the Author still even looks at this anymore but I'd just like to Thank the Author!
So far, of all the companions I've had. I just really love Strong! Despite his size & strength, he really seems like an outcast, an underdog! Just like ME! I guess I'm kind of, a Super Mutant in a way...

Thanks for this Strong tip!!! I can do this trick of equiping him with a normal Strong weapon like a sledge and putting a non-Strong weapon like a gauss rifle with some EC ammo. Then, I do another equip interaction and remove the sledge and WA-LA! He equips the gauss rifle! Neat trick, thanks! OP: If I empty out all his weapons, then put in the weapon I want him to use (as long as he's got ammo for it as well) & any 2nd weapon (does not matter if there's ammo for the 2nd weapon), then exit, then go back into trade with Strong & take away the weapon I don't want him to use, he then equips the last weapon in his inventory automatically.
@private1q: You can use the console command "equipitem" to force an NPC to equip the specified item. The item must be in the inventory of the target.

could you make one were he doesn't have a problem with healing dogmeat. like i don't even know why he'd have a problem with it? sure he kinda wants to eat him but thats my dog man
I was trying to roleplay as a raider and Strong hates that too. He has very specific outcomes that he likes, mainly ones that involve either fighting or not fighting, and the decision is clear with him. So I line up all those quests and do them when with him, just like I do with every companion to max out their affinity faster, but this is just an awesome mod overall cause it's so stupid that he has an issue with lockpicking. I understand the comments he makes, but omg thanks for saving me from that crap. Really well done. I appreciate the work you did and the time it took to upload this and set it up for us. Thank you very much.
Another play through.. I like to use "Strong" in the early game so I don't need to drop points into strength and he's a good fighter. Let him run in and wreck the place and pick off the survivors BUT I hate it when I'm in "Workshop" mode and he's screaming "Retreat" as if he has Tourette Syndrome. Why can't he be a mute?
I know I'm probably nitpicking, but I have to say that Strong really should still be annoyed by lockpicking - remember, supermutants, as you've pointed out, are dumb Orcs, but the point is - they are proud to eschew intelligence over brute strength. It is possible for them to view power armor as other armor pieces (granted, perhaps because they cannot see your face now, they would confuse you for robots) and therefore be indifferent to it, and only afraid of flying (viewing it as a weapon but thinks that "flying buildings" will eventually fall), there is no way to fit lockpicking into their "brawn over brains" philosophy - they would most likely either kick down the door or, failing that, use their guns and bombs to blast open the doors. Too bad this game does not allow you to actually do that. So yup...
...... How I wish I can just blow open a chained door instead of actually fighting my way across the dungeon... I'll still fight through the place for sure, if just to quench my bloodlust, but still, like, I have more weapons and ammo than a small army and I still can't just blow a goddamn door open?
I know this is a long shot, but is there any way possible to make Strong able to wield laser rifles? His other brethren are able to, but for some damn reason Bethesda decided to make it so he cannot use them...It is very stupid to me. Is it possible to fix this?
Your post is over a year old. I recently recruited Strong for the first time since I've been playing this game! I spend too much time modding it & not enough playing it!
Anyway. I was able to equip strong with a Laser Weapon, but it's from a Mod called Gatling Rifle. In the Weapons Work Bench (once you have the Gatling Rifle) you can equip a Laser Receiver, or a Plasma Receiver, but Plasma Receiver is pretty OP.
Strong would not allow me to equip the weapon by pressing the T key. (As is on PC) I just gave him 2000 rounds of MF Cells or Microfusion Cells AKA Fusion Cells, & took away all other weapons besides the Gatling Rifle I made especially for him, with the Deathclaw Bayonet! He then auto equipped it!
Even though it's been over a year, I hope this helped.
P.S. If you've never played with the Gatling Rifle IT'S AWESOME!!! Where you equip Compensators, Muzzle Breaks, or Suppressors there is the Electrification Module! USE IT! Gatling Rifle: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10289
Well just in case you or anyone else want's to know... I figured out something about equipping Strong with a Weapon he's not supposed to be able to wield. I don't know if this works with all weapons but: If I empty out all his weapons, then put in the weapon I want him to use (as long as he's got ammo for it as well) & any 2nd weapon (does not matter if there's ammo for the 2nd weapon), then exit, then go back into trade with Strong & take away the weapon I don't want him to use, he then equips the last weapon in his inventory automatically.
Like I said I haven't tried it with all weapons but it's otherwise working for me. Hope this helps.
Great mod the fact that he disliked everything you did was a huge reason I never take Strong with me, now if you could just make it so he doesn't talk every millisecond lol
lol dude, this is gunna help me immensely, strong don't even like when u lock pick. Now make it so that Dogmeat dislikes when the pc eats mongrel meat, or hound chops
I think that this only works while he's accompanying you? I have him stay at Red Rocket with Cait, MacCready and Curie, when I got into my BoS power armor (Danse as follower) Strong disliked it. Otherwise it has worked as described.
