*** TROUBLESHOOTING/COMPATIBILITY ***

  • Brown/dark face or missing eyebrows/freckles/features: This is either a conflict with LMCC or mismatched texture resolution issue.  Ensure you are using all vanilla resolution skin and facial feature textures, and no other mods that add facial features in the same vein as LMCC.  Remove the Bethesda HD DLC if you have it installed as well as any HD/2k skin or facial feature mods, mods that add new facial features, or mods that change or add hair colors.  If the issue persists, post both your load order and installed mods list in a pastebin in the comments and I will try to help you narrow it down.  You must include both of these as a common conflict with NPC faces involves asset-only mods and may not show up in a plugin load order.  Do NOT post this issue in the bugs section as it is not a bug but a well-known type of conflict caused by game engine limitations.

  • Characters don't change with replacer versions: The most common cause of the characters staying vanilla is usually one of two things- that you've previously opened the looksmenu on the character and saved it, in which case the data is then baked into your save game going forward.  You can revert to an earlier save, start a new game, or use Face Ripper to reset the character's face on your most current save.  The other likely cause is that another mod is overwriting that character.  Common culprits of this are mods that alter companions in other ways like infinite ammo or changing perks.  Using Better Companions - No Conflicts instead of similar mods will fix it, or you can move the replacer esp to or near the bottom of your load order (this will also stop the other mod from affecting the NPC.)
