Requires Automitron, Far Harbor and Nuka World DLC

Description:

The general goal of this mod is to tone down or remove the over powered and magical effects of legendary item mods. Enhancing realism and increasing difficulty. I also set out to merge the DLC effects and items into the vanilla system, making it easier to control and more consistent. Legendary items are still an improvement over non legendary but shouldn't make a pipe gun preferable to a combat rifle for example.

I'm also including a tutorial readme on this page with everything I learned about the legendary system and welcoming others to use this as a modder's resource if you want to make your own version of this. I will also try to answer questions in the comment section.

WHY?
Most mods that alter the legendary system aim to make it more powerful and more convenient. However I found that the legendary drops you get in the un-modded game were already pretty game breaking. The closest to my mod I found was a mod that completely removes legendary drops.  This makes legendary drops still feel special and give you an edge, but they will  (hopefully) not make the game so easy you don't have to worry any more.

Details of Changes:
All of the quests that managed DLC legendary mods, items and ammo are changed to do nothing and those effects are moved to the base game "LegendaryItemQuest" or the items in question were manually moved into the base game leveled loot list. This allows for easier control of what spawns when and how often.

Here are all the items I added to the legendary leveled loot list from DLCs. I set what I feel appropriate levels for when they will start to drop, for balance. I added the robot armor set (minus helmets) and assautron blade from the Assaultron DLC into the leveled list (spawn at level 15). I added the meat hook, lever action and harpoon gun from Far Harbor DLC (spawn at level 15). I added the revolver(26), handmade rifle(28), disciples blade (30) and raider armor (25) from Nuka World. I also added the MIRV grenade and Lucky Rabbits Foot From Nuka world as it looks like they were supposed to drop but didn't. Some of these spawned normally in the legendary system, some required you to progress through the DLC and some were never added to the list of possible legendary items. I was going to add the Mr Handy Buzz blade from Automitron to the list but it doesn't have a legendary slot and I didn't want to edit any items directly for compatibility.

I added DLC ammo to the LegendaryItemQuest list as well as shotgun ammo, which was missing, so all weapons will come with appropriate ammo.

Almost all of the legendary effects from the base game and DLC have been removed from the list of possible legendary mods. I added a few cusom mods I felt better fit the theme of this mod. Making only 34 possible mods. This is a lot less than is typically available from the game, but I cut out a lot of redundant, special circumstance or overpowered mods. I'll put a full list at the bottom of the description.

All vanilla and DLC mods that touch more than legendary drop items are left unchanged. This means Unique items that use these mods will still exist and be truly unique and powerful items. For example the legendary items you find in stores or quest reward items.

Narrowed down which armor pieces can get which mods for balance, so the more powerful mods are generally chest only. A few are legs or arms only.

I edited the quest DLC03_InstanceNamingRulesManager to insert my custom mod names into dn_CommonGun, dn_CommonMelee and dn_CommonArmor for maximum compatibility. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how Item sorting mods handle instance naming rules so I can't make a compatibility patch for valdicil's yet. This will only affect items with my custom legendary effects however. I still seldomly get legendary spawns with my custom mods not naming correctly, but it is rare and will not impact the actual item effects. If this happens you can always rename the item at a workbench.

Compatibility:
Requires Automitron, Far Harbor and Nuka World.
This will most likely not be compatible with other mods that alter the legendary system by changing the leveled loot lists or adding more legendary mods. This mod goes in the opposite direction of most mods in this category. Confirmed that it does not work with Legendary Overhaul.

Recommended for a new game. Not tested on old saves and removal is not guaranteed as I don't know how the game tracks the quests related to legendary mechanics. I had to start a new game every time I tested changes to the quests to see the changes, but I didn't try waiting for long periods.

There is now a compatibility patch to make this work fully with Valdacil's item sorting mod, thanks to SuperSonic64.
