BE AWARE THAT : #1 This mod will override any changes made by mods that covers vanilla and DLC quests, except for the mods supported/patched #2 DEF_UI icons presets provided in "Quests Tags" will override any customization made by players or unsupported mods. Thank for the report of the new FIS ... hadn't seen that one. I'll have to make an intensive analyse of its mechanisms and icon library since it does not uses the previous tag files and icons lib used since then. I'll check that on later date during first trimester of 2023.
Solution might probably reside in Complex Sorter mechanisms that I haven't checked to date.
There is RU version on site available, but its quite outdated (2019 year), and doesn't support FIS. It's easy to adapt that older version with FIS in example?
1st : since the beginning, FallUI integrates all tags for Quests tags, but you might need to activate the appropriate bloc within the DEF_INV_TAGS.xml 2nd : for my fomod to give you the options to select a preconfigured DEF_INV_TAGS.xml, you'll have to : - "Main Plugin" step : select [x] With Icons - "Sorting Mod" step : select either [x] FallUI Item Sorter ... or [x] VIS-G + FallUI Just make sure to meet all the prerequisites and allow the overwriting of the DEF_INV_TAGS.xml.
The requirement have to be installed AND deployed before QuestsTags. Either retry to install it after meeting an deploying the requirements, or open the zip file and take the appropriate DEF_INV_TAGS.xml from one of the folders in "01 - Interface" and put it manually.
DEF_UI is not required in this case. You can install it anyway, but before installing FallUI. Here is an explanation how to : The FallUI series installation guide
Just installed per the instructions here, worked with FallUI fine.
That said, I have one question. I see that my modded quests don't have any sort of icon. Would it be possible to have them assigned some sort of generic icon, so at least they have something?
For the FallUI series I would recommend M8r98a4f2's Complex Item Sorter (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/48826). Is a new Sorting Mod that uses a script to build the patch with all you mods installed (no more 100 compatibility patches needed). It includes a lot of things, including Tags for the Radios and Quests.
LOOT will unfortunately sort QuestsTags_00_AllDLC.esp to come *after* QuestsTags_01_patch_UFO4P.esp. You could, of course, fix this with a bogus master file dependency in 01, but it would be good if you could submit rules for your mod to the LOOT team.
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but can someone explain to me what will happen if I use Ruddy88's Simple Sorter & this mod? Are they compatible? Will I lose the tags from my sorting? What do I need to do to make them compatible?
If you use a mod that is not supported by questtags, do this : 1. during quest tags installation, choose the icon version but then "Other - Do not overwrite" while in the Sorting mod step 2. open the zip version of quests tags, then pick any "DEF_INV_TAGS.xml" within the subfolders of the "01 - Interface" folder. 3. open the file and copy the <!-- Quests Tags --> section 4. open your ~Fallout 4/Data/Interface/DEF_CONF/DEF_INV_TAGS.xml, and paste the <!-- Quests Tags --> section at the very end
Wow! Thanks for that detailed fix! Will give it a try!
EDIT: How does this fare with M8r98a4f2's Complex Item Sorter? While running the patcher, it gives an option of Quest Tags. Does this mean I would not need this mod if I use that?
Sorry for the late reply : I'm not really sure of that because I don't use it. But since it builds a patch AIO including the vanilla ones and by supposing you have all the patches necessary and your load order is all right I suppose you won't need Quests Tags anymore :'( Anyway, if it's true, I'm glad it helped 'till then
Hey there, i'm having issues with this mod and finally decided to leave a comment here after spending more than a week trying to fix it myself.
I use simplified sorting, and simplified sorting does not require DEF UI. Do i still need DEF UI to make this mod work properly?
I was using DEF UI a couple weeks ago and it worked great with this mod (a few icons missing and a loose minutemen icon above completed quests but no big deal), i then started using simplified sorting and the quest tags were still there. I when i made this switch i was using my last playthrough saves to play around with mods to find what i liked best. Since then, i made a clean install of my game and started a new save. But now, the only tags or icons i have is for the minutemen and automatron dlc. I tried installing it through vortex with and without icons, i tried choosing simple sorting aswell as "not overwrite" during the installation and manually putting the quest tags in the xml file but no luck. The only icons i get is minutemen and automatron
I read through all the comments and bugs in this mod and tried everything to no avail. I'm still kinda new to modding and dont know much about it but i was thinking that when i first switched from def ui to simplified sorting i maybe didnt properly uninstall def ui (if thats even a thing) and because of that your mod was still working properly as it did when i originally installed with with def ui. Could that be it ?
Sorry, i know most likely i messed up somewhere but some help would be appreciated
In vortex, in the plugin tab, double click on quest tag plugins and choosing dynamic patches in the drop down groups menu. It properly puts quests tags at the end of the load order (setting it as a rule in the mods tab doesnt do it properly). All icons are showing
I'm trying to install this via Vortex, and I have all the game's DLCs. But the AllDLC option under Main Plugin of the FOMOD installer is grayed out. If I select NotAllDLC, only Automatron is detected in the next page.
I uninstalled it and retried to reinstall it and I only got one of the dlc available on next page (the automatron one). this worked very well a few weeks ago. I'll check the installer to see what is obsolete within, in hope the pb is hiden somewhere there.
01 March 2022, 10:50 PM (update) Well ... depencies that checks if a DLC is inactive fails ! It does not when applied to mods (esp / esm) installed with vortex. You will have this pb with any mods that check if a DLC or fallout4.esm is inactive.
I reported it to Vortex support ... if not fixed (or confirmed this mechanism is obsolete) until tomorrow evening, I'll make new installer that avoids this (but might allow you to make some mistakes while choosing the available options)
Yeah I've seen that. Inspired by this one I think (since it mentioned this mod :) but more straight to the point for what I've seen ... focusing on a single esp.His version covers the Horizon overhaul too, so it has its utility ... no real bother

Wouldn't have figured to make it that way. :thumb:

be sure to upgrade your vortex.
btw, while waiting for this to get fixed, I saw a remake version of this mod called Quest Tags Redux. not sure if that's similar or based on yours.
