About this mod

Provides multiple types of containers that provide shared storage across settlements (i.e. cloud storage.) Unlike other linked container mods, this mod allows the containers to be configured to either all link together, only link to containers of the same type (giving the ability to designate different types for different purposes) or any combinat

Introduction

This mod allows you to construct linked (or "cloud") storage containers in your settlements.  The containers share inventory across all other linked containers of the same type, and will allow you to access your stash from any settlement in the Commonwealth.

Why Make This?

There are other linked / shared storage mods available on the Nexus and on Bethesda.net, but none of them gave me exactly what I wanted:

  • The ability to construct different styles of containers vs. being limited to just a Metal Box (for example).

  • The ability to segregate my cloud storage for different purposes.  In other words, everything had to go into the same linked chest and there was no way to separate out items I wanted to keep vs. items I wanted to sell or give to my settlers.

If you don't need / want the above features, then this mod will not provide any benefits over one of the already existing mods.

Features

Container Varieties

Allows you to build four different types of linked storage containers.  These are available under the Furniture->Container section of the Workshop menu:

  • Linked Chem Cooler
  • Linked Footlocker
  • Linked Metal Box
  • Linked Steamer Trunk

Default Linkage

Each type of container links to other containers of the same type.  In other words, if you build both a Chem Cooler and a Footlocker in Sanctuary and another Chem Cooler and Footlocker at Graygarden, the Chem Coolers will share inventory with one another, and the Footlockers will share with one another, but the Chem Cooler will not share inventory with the Footlocker.

This allows you to designate linked chests for a specific purpose.  For example, here's how I use them:

  • Steamer Trunk:  Unique or collectible items that I want to keep for myself
  • Metal Box:  Items I want to sell when convenient
  • Footlocker:  Items that will be distributed to my settlers
  • Chem Cooler:  Spare chems / booze for when I need to resupply

Custom Configuration

Do you just want all your containers of any type to link together ... or maybe want Footlockers and Steamer Trunks to share inventory but keep the others separate?  I've provided the ability to configure this however you'd like, although I'm anticipating that most people will never need this feature.

To do so, enter the workshop menu while crouched / sneaking and either build a new linked container, or pick up an existing one.  Once you've placed the container, you will receive a pop-up menu asking which Master Chest that you'd like to link this container to.  The "Master Chests" are the chests sitting out in the cloud that actually hold the inventory.  There's an image above shows the menu and the default container / master chest linkage.

If you are confused after reading the above, just go build a few chests and play around a bit and you'll get the hang of it.
