READ THIS if you have questions or are experiencing issues!

    - This is FREE. Please continue.
-Make sure you switched to "Performance mode" in the Reshade GUI as explained in the installation instructions. Otherwise you'll get abysmal FPS.
    - When installing the Reshade suite, make sure you clicked on Direct3D 10+. This is very important.
    - Make sure you remove ANY leftover files from old Reshades before installing this.
    - Make sure you have the latest version installed
    - Make sure you have the required mods and files installed
    - Make sure you chose the VANILLA BRIGHTNESS option when installing Vivid Weathers (not the natural bright one)
    - Make sure you followed the install instructions correctly
    - if you are using a pirated copy of the game: don't waste my time
    - Make sure you download all the shaders during the installation of the Reshade suite.
    - Distant objects sometimes appear to be too bright: This is a well known issue that affects each and every ENB out there and can only be fixed once the author of the suite decides to implement fog color parameters.
    - This is a very complex ENB. There's no way to just turn off one particular effect and still keep it balanced.
    - Your question has probably been answered before, so search the comments first.
    - Make sure you meet the system requirements to play at least in 1080p.
    - during the pre-war and vault tutorial you might experience some weird effects. This is due to heavy scripting and normal. Wait a few in-game hours/days once you made it to Sanctuary.
    - True Storms seems to be compatible with the synergy patch found on the nexus.
    - "It doesn't work, what did I do wrong?"- I don't know. Because I don't know what you did.

Just wondering if there will ever be a version for NAC X. This was my go to mod for the tortured wasteland look.

yeah I know it's a bit confusing I myself had some experience with reshades from witcher 3 that's how I knew what to do.
so when you google reshade , you'll be able to get ReShade_Setup_4.9.1.exe ( the current version ) and once you do just run it and choose your Fallout4Launcher.exe
then when it asks you which rendering api does it use , choose direct3d 10/11/12 which is the one that works for fallout 4 , each game is different but most are direct3d 10+ ( for any other game that you'd like to reshade visit:
      https://reshade.me/compatibility)

now that you chose the right api , make sure your internet works well and download all the packs ( except for that legacy one I'm not sure if that's required ) at this point the only problem that may occur is your internet not working well and if it doesn't or simply that server from which the packs are being downloaded is busy or has any issues , you'll see that the download fails and so the whole operation collapses ; It happened to me a lot back when I was reshading witcher 3 .

if the download completed you're good to go and just drop all the contents of pathos enb into your Fallout 4 root folder.

if not then you're screwed like I was in the witcher 3 , the sloution for it is to download the reshade effects/packs master file from it's site ( better to just google it , reshade's site is not that easy to search ) and then installing the master file of those effects manually into the game directory and the reshade presets like pathos preset are .ini files that should also be in the game directory and usually they come with thier own "shaders and textures folders" but if not you already have the master file.

now in game just tab home to bring up the reshade menu in game and ( I recommend not skipping the tutorial ) choose the preset you want to have from the available presets ( the available presets that you previously putted in your game directory ) ; Annnnnd voilĂ  you're done.

if you see a red line or error issues that some effects are blah blah know that it's painstakingly fixable but really not that important as that your current preset might not even use a single one of them so just ignore it ; and obviously if you're not satisfied with how your game looks still , you can try to enable other effects that are disabled by default and see if they'll satisfy better or not .

Yo you're a lifesaver! Installing this ENB was amazingly easy with the help of your updated comment. It almost didn't work at first, but then I realized I'd forgotten to download the ENB v311 (except it wasn't v311 it was some way different number lmao) and copy the .dll files. After that it worked instantly! So easy! Thank you! :D

Yes it does , by that I mean it works well alongside that mod IMO but I'm not sure about your taste.

If you simply meant is this compatible with ELFX then also yes ofcourse it is why wouldn't it'd be?

But as I said my taste might be different than yours and you will definitely see something different than the images shown in ELFX mod page

I'm using your ENB for Vanilla weathers and i've to admit it's imo the only ENB able to recreate those Fallout 3 vibes. Thank you so much for this!

Thank you for an awesome mod, honestly I am not very good at modding so a mod like this with a great line to line instructions really helped, my game has never looked better. (232 mods in no crashes yet)

Okay party people, I managed to get this working without crashes or errors (as of July 2019 anyway). BUT I had to disable some filters, so it probably isn't what the mod author intended, though it seems close. And I think it's all worth it. I dig this; no way I can go back to vanilla FO4 or any other ENB after playing with this.

    Here's what I did:

    Follow the installation instructions, but...
**Use the latest Fallout 4 ENB (for me, that was v385).
**Do NOT use the latest Reshade. I found the Reshade that was released prior to this mod being updated. The mod was updated Dec 26, 2017. So... I found the Reshade version just before that, which was Reshade 3.1.0 released Nov 19, 2017, which I guessed is probably the one the mod author used. You can get that here: reshade.me/downloads/ReShade_Setup_3.1.0.exe
**Follow the instructions to install the 3.1.0 Reshade, say yes to downloading all the effects.
**Then follow instructions to copy Pathos files/folder over into Fallout 4 directory.
**Now here's the rub: even though it's an old Reshade, when you said "yes" to downloading all those effects, it appears to be downloading the very latest effects for the latest Reshade. They don't work together. Before I realized that, I kept getting errors and crashing.
**Solution: look in folder: "Fallout 4\reshade-shaders" . You' ll see two sub-folders, Shaders and Textures. Go into those and sort by date. Anything that is your date (the date you installed Reshade), you should delete. Do that for both Shaders and Textures. Leave only the older files in there that are from the Pathos folder. IDEALLY, you would use the filters & FX for v3.1.0 but I have no idea how to do that.
**Now you can run the game. Follow instructions to bring up Reshade menu -- which is still the old key combo of Shift+F2 since you're using an old Reshade. It's not "Home" key like newer Reshade.
**Follow installation instructions, select the Pathos.ini in the field.
**But wait! There's more! For reasons I don't understand, Reshade is not properly enabling all the fields the Pathos wants enabled. You need to look in "Pathos.ini" (In Fallout 4 folder) and go through it, making sure whatever has values there, is enabled in Reshade. It's easiest if you look at the word within brackets, for example "[AmbientLight.fx]". Make sure there's a checkbox in Reshade next to anything that Pathos.ini has values for.
**But wait! There's more! I found that when enabling the four fields: DPX, Technicolor, Technicolor2, and Vibrance, it's a mess. It blows out the brightness to extreme levels. That can't be right. I don't know what is. I just disabled them and left Technicolor2 running and it looks better to me. Maybe someone smarter can figure out what's going on there.
**Also, Depth of Field (the various DOF effects in Reshade) also seem messy and blur the hell out of everything. I left those disabled.

But there you go. This got Pathos running for me. I'd bet all the troubles here relate to stupid Reshade downloading its filters upon installation instead of including them, which means you can never (?) get the older versions. As it is, you're not going to match the screenshots but it will get it running and then you can fiddle around.

    Hope it helps!

UPDATE: Here's some screenshots, this is what it looks like for me after doing all the above and then adjusting some ENB and Reshade effects. I got DPX (Reshade) working, it was just a matter of dialing down it's strength. Enabling Curves helps, and dialing down the strength of Adaptive Fog helps a lot too. These are all taken with the Vivid Weather mod. I have to say, with some experimenting this is by far my favorite ENB or Reshade I've tried. It's worth the effort. You get a really cool, stylish, atmospheric vibe all throughout the game.

I suggest pairing Pathos with the music overhaul "Fallout 4 - New Postapocalyptic Soundtrack by Orkus". It fits this ENB much better than the vanilla music does.

just found a method to install older version reshade: https://pictureamoebae.tumblr.com/post/180655882504/tutorial-old-reshade
not a single error popped out, so I presume the expected version was correctly installed...

Reshade is an fps hungry preset. Enb in general demands extra out of the vanilla game and with the game engine being poorly optimized it has minor fps dips. Sometimes unnoticeable but you add in reshade and it can definitely tax your rig. Depending on hardware and mileage of your system it might not cause much issues. Reshade is something to pay attention to in game and if major fps drops then reshade is the first thing that I would disable.
