Created with Patcher. Feel free to create your own custom version using the rule available in the misc file section.
CTD when using my patches: You are missing a plugin. Go to the "Plugins" tab of your Nexus Mod Manager and check for any errors. Each patch requires the respective original mod to be installed as well as the Darker Nights main file.
XBOX One: I have finally uploaded this mod to Bethesda.net (platform is XBOX One). There is 14 files so far. I will try to address comment there as well and as often as I am able. Don't hesitate to post here or search previous posts since most issues will affect both platforms. Other than that, just to be safe, please see the ToS on Console modding.
Far Harbor & Nuka World DLC patches: Many people have not played through all the DLCs yet so be considerate when posting comments that may contain spoilers. Such is the one kind of post I may delete. When in doubt post a bug report and include word "spoiler" in the title.
Help me help you and post the following information when reporting visual problems: 1) Installed level of Darkness 2) Current weather and the time of day 3) Screenshot if possible (http://imgur.com/) 4) Which other mods and patches you have installed (load order)
I had the same issue, turns out I needed to download the Nuka World Plus Far Harbor Add-On file from the Optional Files section on the True Storms mod page:
I'm curious if you are using any weather overhauls with this mod? TrueStorms for example is known to have a pretty significant compatibility bug with Darker Nights.
I have just over 100 mods installed, and installed this mid-game. It works, but I do not have any weather mods installed. That looks to be the issue for most people reporting problems.
At some point a few years back either Darker Nights or TrueStorms, got an update that broke the compatibility between the two mods. It is generally agreed this was likely TrueStorms. The assumption was DN (or someone else on the Nexus) would quickly make a patch to adjust for the update. But DN was no longer being updated, and the patch never came. Honestly the fact that no one ever tackled this issue still surprises me given how popular DN remains even now.
So that sorta brings us up to current with the issue still remaining of how do we get a good night time (exterior) darkness overhaul? True Nights by comparison was built around ENB's and has weathered the test of time better, however it has also not been updated in years.
It is worth mentioning that True Nights gets a significant error from Buffout 4 with the recommendation to removed the mod.
NOTE: I am currently looking for a newer night time darkness overhaul that is more up to date. If anyone knows of one, please feel free to comment and I'll check it out. Alternately a good weather mod that handles darkness in a more reasonable / realistic fashion is also good.
Just because a mod hasn't been updated in years doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work properly. True Nights works perfectly if you apply the fix, or if you manually remove the corrupted reference, and Buffout accepts it. DN with TS works fine on my side too.
"I am currently looking for a newer night time darkness overhaul that is more up to date" Honestly, I think those are the only two options. And I prefer DN over TrueNights. TrueNights works very well with small adjustments in the ENB, but shortly after working I've seen strange things at night and that's why I finally uninstalled it.
I used to use DN/TS "back in the day" and LOVED it. I wish they still worked together for me. Totally bummed by this one actually.
I'm going to be firing up a new game & mod load out soon. Perhaps I'll revisit DN / TS just to see if I get any love outta that combo now. If not, I'll likely go with NAC X as an alternative.
Just FYI for anything seeing the recommendation above... the "Darker NAC X Nights" makes NAC X nights INSANELY DARK.... like way too dark. They're basically black, even with NAC X's night darkness settings turned off.
Hello sometimes i go to the fo76 nexus page just hoping in a conversion of this mod for the appalacchian sky, man the situation over there is tremedous, the night skies are a miserable pale blue, please help us with just something really easy, not like in f4 with all these variants. Please.

''DarkerNights.esp depends on TrueStormsFO4-NukaWorld-FH-Compat.esp''
This is happening despite choosing True Storms in the installation.

Are you sure you don't have a 3rd weather or lighting mod in the mix?
Not with Nac settings and not with Darker Nights
